Oba Olukosi of Ilukosi-Ijesa, in Osun State, Oba Omotooyosi Adebayo Akinleye, has said Sharia Court negates the secularity adopted in South West states.

In a statement, on his X handle, on Thursday, Oba Akinleye, stated that the Yoruba settled issues through traditional methods but adopted legal means in line with secularity enshrined in the Constitution.

“ Your Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR. I respectfully write to share insights on the judicial evolution in Yorubaland, particularly regarding the transition from the traditional Osugbo/Ogboni judicial system to the adoption of a more universal law of freedom.

“Historically, the Osugbo/Ogboni system was integral to governance and justice in Yorubaland, serving as a high court with significant influence over both legal and social matters.

However, in alignment with the broader movement towards secularism and a more inclusive legal framework, the Yoruba community has largely transitioned away from these traditional structures.

“This shift reflects a broader embrace of universal principles that advocate for freedom of thought, conscience, and religion, which are foundational to the secular state as outlined in Nigeria’s constitution.

This change has allowed for a legal system that is more reflective of diverse societal needs and less tied to specific cultural or religious practices, thereby fostering an environment where every individual can exercise their rights freely, ” he said.

The King stated that Sharia law implementation in the Yoruba states would be a challenge. He stressed that Sharia law would undermine the secularity of the region.

He noted that the South West region has a good number of Christian and traditional worshippers who would disagree with any Sharia law.

“ Regarding Sharia Law in the Southwest, its implementation poses challenges due to our secular framework. Nigeria is constitutionally a secular state where no religion is to be adopted as the state religion, ensuring that every person has the right to freedom of religion without interference.

“The introduction of Sharia in the Southwest could potentially undermine this secularity, leading to tensions and conflicts not only between religious groups but also within the broader societal fabric.

For instance, Sharia’s application might not resonate with the significant Christian and traditionalist populations, potentially causing legal ambiguity and social discord, ” the Oba stated.

Kabiesi Oba Olukosi of Ilukosi-Ijesa (Odundun Aso-Ilu dero, Adifa gba-Ilu II) added that secularity in the region has promoted peace and unity. He emphasized that it was crucial to maintain the secular stance.

“The secular approach has been beneficial in promoting peace, unity, and development by providing a common legal ground where all citizens, regardless of their faith or belief, can coexist harmoniously.

“It is crucial to maintain this secular stance to continue ensuring that the Southwest remains a region where every citizen’s rights are protected under a universal legal system, rather than one bound by specific religious doctrines.

“I trust this perspective underscores the importance of maintaining a secular judicial system for the benefit of all in our diverse nation,” he added.

What benefits has Sharia brought to Northerners? Despite its operation, terrorism and insecurity continue to prevail in the North. Let the North continue to enjoy it's terrorism and insecurity due to religious extremism and leave out the SW. Or do fulanis want to use Islam to conquer us as they conquered Hausas?

What Shari’ah has done to northerner Nigeria is still affecting this nation on a larger scale. Hence, the Sultan, MURIC and Prof Ishaq Oloyode and all the apostles championing this shit should better be tamed fast than expected.

The muslims won't tolerate Christian courts or traditional courts around them, so why should people of other faiths tolerate islamic sharia courts?.

I like the way Yorubas have put sentiments aside and how Christians, muslims and traditionalists have all come together to reject the sharia nonsense on Yoruba soil.. ordinarily Yorubas should not be taking orders from a Fulani Sultan, it's like that act is making Fulanis see themselves as overlords of all muslims in Nigeria.
We love ourselves irrespective of religion.. I don't want to see a situation where Yorubas will start turning to extremism, killing their brothers and sisters over what some mad imams preach and say in mosques or in sharia s

Before Islam, the nomadic tribes inhabiting the Arabian peninsula worshiped idols. These tribes frequently fought with one another. Each tribe had its own customs governing marriage, hospitality, and revenge. Crimes against persons were answered with personal retribution or were sometimes resolved by an arbitrator. Muhammad introduced a new religion into this chaotic Arab world. Islam affirmed only one true God. It demanded that believers obey God’s will and laws.

The Koran sets down basic standards of human conduct, but does not provide a detailed law code. Only a few verses deal with legal matters. During his lifetime, Muhammad helped clarify the law by interpreting provisions in the Koran and acting as a judge in legal cases. Thus, Islamic law, the Sharia, became an integral part of the Muslim religion.

Following Muhammad’s death in A.D. 632, companions of Muhammad ruled Arabia for about 30 years. These political-religious rulers, called caliphs (KAY liff), continued to develop Islamic law with their own pronouncements and decisions. The first caliphs also conquered territories outside Arabia including Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Persia, and Egypt. As a result, elements of Jewish, Greek, Roman, Persian, and Christian church law also influenced the development of the Sharia.

Islamic law grew along with the expanding Muslim Empire. The Umayyad dynasty caliphs, who took control of the empire in 661, extended Islam into India, Northwest Africa, and Spain. The Umayyads appointed Islamic judges, kadis, to decide cases involving Muslims. (Non-Muslims kept their own legal system.) Knowledgeable about the Koran and the teachings of Muhammad, kadis decided cases in all areas of the law.

Following a period of revolts and civil war, the Umayyads were overthrown in 750 and replaced by the Abbasid dynasty. During the 500-year rule of the Abbasids, the Sharia reached its full development.

All these fake imported religions have destroyed the normal mental processes of a lot of our people.

If you are following either of the two religion, you should know for fact that:

There is no heaven, there is no hell, there is no God (or god), there is no Allah, there are no angels, there are no demons, there are no spirits, there is no life after death, juju don't work, there is no eternal judgment, there is no karma, there was no historical Jesus. All those are figment of human imaginations and tools use by a very few some to control the very many others. The earlier you understand and accept these facts as facts, the happier and merrier your life and existence will be.

The religion you're currently claiming is the religion of your parents, if you were born into a different family of another religion (say Hinduism), that is the exact religion you will practice.

You were born without a religion in you, your factory reset has no religion in it. If you were to be a phone and they do factory reset on you today being a phone, there will not be anything found related to religion in your settings, files and file systems anymore; you learn religion only after your birth growing up.

Islam is idolatry and paganism, Christianity aswell is idolatry - All the world religion is idolatry, including all the Abrahamic religion. Holy communion is idolatory, bowing for a stone call Kaaba of the Bedouin tribes is also idolatory, killing of rams is idolatory, kissing or licking of black stones at mecca is idolatory, throwing of stone at pilgrimage is idolatory too.

Infact, Illah is what the Arabic call God and not Allah. Allah was one of the diety been worshiped before the invention of Islam. That is why muslims will say something like "la ilah ila huwa" meaning Allah is one Illah (God). Have you ask yourself why Prophet Mohammed's father who was an idol worshiper and who lived before the invention of islam has Allah in is name Abdullai== Abdu Allah? It is because Allah has been an idol worshiped by paganists before the Prophet received his revelations.

All Abrahamic religion are idolatory, they only package them well and condemn your heritage as evil, whereas, Nigeria was better in of morality, honesty and integrity before they brought the foreign religions.

In peace loving, emotional intelligence, love for neighbor, respect for sanctity of life, we are even better than those who brought those religion with primitive leaders and prophets whose morality and characters are highly questionable and shameful.

Release yourself today from the shackles of religion. Stop wasting away your life and existence!

This is one of the reasons we need to be electing "educated" Kings, and not relying on Oracle alone that will just choose one Local man to rule over people in this century.

We don't want Kings that would only able to speak his local language and when development comes from Government and overseas, he will need an interpreter.
