The marketing gimmick used then was that the Private placement shares par value was N5.00 and the par value when they will be listed would be 50k.

With this those who bought 1 million units at private placement would have 10 million units when listed.

So people sold solid and quality stocks to take speculative positions in the private placements offers.

But that is not trading; that is an example of a fool and his money soon parting. In TA books, money management is a serious topic. The good ones emphasize that trading is a probability game (that requires you to have a statistical edge). It’s not guaranteed, but with high-probability moves, you limit your downside by using stop losses. All real technical analysis discussions cover stop losses and position sizing—there are entire books dedicated to these topics. I’ve read a couple by Van K. Tharp, who often talks about R multiples. He suggests setting your R (maximum risk) before entering any trade (not after).

The people you mention give TA a bad name (exhuding illusion of knowledge). They continue to misinform the public even today. They go on the radio to talk about forex, claiming it’s profitable and pushing their systems, but I haven’t heard any of them discuss the downsides.

Just as you use a margin of safety in FA, TA relies on money management and position sizing. All TA is probabilistic, and to some extent, FA is too. Even a "wonderful business" can be affected overnight by government policies, natural disasters, disruptive innovations, and more.

In this life, the greatest asset someone can have is an open mind. Never criticize anything without first diving deep into it and mastering it academically. Do not rely solely on individual cases (something to do with taking one sample of a population) , as they might be misleading or misapplications. This is my gift to you.

why not buy this stock CHAPEL HILL DENHAM NIG. INFRAS DEBT FUND instead that pays dividend four times in a year at least 5 or 4 naira each time they pay dividend and before 4years 3 months you might have recoup all your invested fund there was time when ymcy56 said a lot about this stock

I had just gone through the corporate disclosure released by Transcorp Power. The total N5.00 dividend is very poor for a stock close to N360. Is this not a good time to exit ? undecided undecided undecided undecided

A lot of workers don't know anything about their company's stock.

I told a family friend who works at Nahco to buy 500k units of Nahco shares at N8 per share in January 2023 based on the money he got from the staff cooperative society.

Unfortunately he bought a car for Uber and he is yet to break even

Not company rule. Just total lack of interest in Investments.
But they go around marketing convincing the Public to invest?

Bombarding emails to customers to purchase Right Issue and public offers?

Holding webiners, whatsapp sections, public enlightenment, etc

Spending heavily in of time analysising companies result as they come every quarter, Being abrest of daily happenings in the political scene and world economics to stay informed as frontliners, just to dish out up-to-date research and point out recommendation to the public on weekly basis.

All these doesn't mean anything to them personally?
Because they don't personally spend money abi?

In my opinion again, It's not massively possible?
Probably, very very few of them don't.

Well, I can agree to this.
Employees usually focus on their little responsibilities at work and may usually operate on a very microscopic level to know the effect of their overall general input on a large scale on their company..

But a broker usually sees the larger picture at a macro level..
that's usually their work schedule.

I agree with you 💯 here.
The problem I have identified with TA and FA is actually about those promoting it.
Someone Will be claiming to be using TA and will be talking about putting 50% and even 100% of fund in a single trade ignoring the basic rule of risk management.
Same goes for some FA promoters who will be telling folks that a stock must deliver a certain percentage of returns within a specific time frame as if they own the company.

To provide some context, Chapel Hill Denham Nigeria Infrastructure Debt Fund is a closed-end investment fund that invests in infrastructure debt securities in Nigeria. The fund's objective is to provide regular income and capital preservation to its investors.

Now, regarding your observations:

1. Dividend payments: The fund's dividend payments of 4-5 Naira per share, four times a year, translate to a relatively high dividend yield. This could be attractive to income-seeking investors.
2. Return on investment: With an estimated annual return of 19%, it's possible that investors could recoup their initial investment within 4-5 years, assuming consistent dividend payments and no significant changes in the fund's net asset value.
3. Online stock price reporting: It's puzzling that online stock price reporting platforms don't seem to have this fund listed. This might be due to various reasons, such as:
- The fund's relatively small size or market capitalization.
- Limited liquidity or trading activity in the fund's shares.
- Technical issues or data feed problems with the online platforms.
4. CSCS website listing: The fact that the fund is listed on the CSCS (Central Securities Clearing System) website, but below Chams, suggests that CSCS might have more comprehensive or up-to-date information on the fund.

To better understand the situation, you may want to:

1. the fund's listing status on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) website.
2. the fund's management company or registrar to inquire about the dividend payment history and any potential issues with online stock price reporting.
3. Check with online stock price reporting platforms to see if they can provide more information on why the fund is not listed.

the reason i posted this here is because this stock has been paying certain strange dividend which is very on usual in the nse while transpower, geregu, transhotel will be paying 1% per year CHDNIDF will be paying 19-20% per year

I hope you will compensate the many contributors who provide valuable criticism that you are incorporating into your website when you go commercial, lol. You're doing a great job.

Could you also consider allowing data s in the future? Specifically, I mean daily trade-by-trade data. Maybe not now, but when you go commercial, it would be very useful for those of us who enjoy analyzing such details.

I have not been able to find much on their financial performance except for the dividends they paid.
I will appreciate it if you can post any one you have like AFS that actually shows their performance.

The Psychology of an employee is different from that of an Investor. The focus of an employee is mostly always on salary, increment and promotion. It takes time for the veil drops off or forced off.
In addition,
Some employees have no idea how strong the company is and those meeting sessions with strong/worried facial expressions from management are just to keep them on their toes to avoid laxity and almost always focus on companies weak areas which may constitute a total liability of less than 5% of equity.
But the employee perceives it as what can bring the company down and that the company is struggling or fragile.
Even when some read the financial statements, they believe it doesn't reflect the true reality on ground. That it's just packaging grin

So why will he invest in a company that can cut his salary or allowances the next month if he doesn't step up? grin
