As to today tiktok shuts down and no longer works in America.
Our only source of rapid information has been stripped away from the people of America.

It was great having Tiktok while it last.

They are already on Rednote. the app.

App has done more damage than good in some cases, so the ban will definitely have positive effects on society, the extent to which I can't say. FB, YT, and Instagram were still the most used SM apps in the US in 2024 despite the presence of Tiktok, so I doubt Tiktok will be missed much.

Compare tiktok rapid growth to every other social media behind it, and you will realize how it is a distuptor.
FB, YT and IG already had 2 generations of s before TT came on board. TT owns the new generations and is doing what GTB did to banks in nigeria.

Tiktok will never find salvation under Trump's presidency. Its promotion of Islamism and opposition to Western values are significant concerns. Interestingly, China has banned the app within its borders, citing similar worries about islamism and protectionism. China wants to use the app to tackle and undermine Western values in the US while preventing it in its own territory. I'd advise Trump to consider imposing sanctions on any Western nation that permits the tiktok app within its territory.

You are right.
Tiktok is not allowed in China. It's replica called Douyin is heavily regulated by Chinese Government. Jihadist content are filtered out through AI

you think the interest of US and other western countries will always align with each other.
So US trying to steal other western country land is an align interest. Hopefully other countries will wake up soon.
US is not stealing anybody's land.
It seems you're referring to Canada and Greenland. If Canada relies heavily on US for its survival and subsidy from US for it's subsistence then merging with the United States might be a viable option, given their shared historical roots. Similarly, that of Greenland, its perpetual dependent on Denmark, could make the citizens consider ing the US, citing geographical proximity and potential benefits.

It would have been better to ban it in Nigeria, along with other social media platforms, to help our children focus on their studies. Social media is having a detrimental effect on our youth. We may not always notice it, but when you take a closer look, you'll understand.

I wish that was enough. But even if you don’t use it and someone on your network is, high chances are they’re already tracking your devices and collecting information about you just from that person being on your network.

The tech billionaire oligarchy has been long in the making.

Tiktok would have been allowed on one condition, if they would make it an American company.

The whole noise is simply because they couldn't control it to do their bidding and turn it to another propaganda Twitter.

That's is the condition they gave tiktok..... Divest or shut down.... They said they will rather shut down than make it an American company..... The Chinese had sinister motive....

I don't do all the social media cos I don't have the strength to keep up. It's tedious task to me.
Also, govt and govt agencies know the s that show flag off and they monitor such. When some flag off words are repeatedly used, some organisations, beliefs and stuffs like that, they put a watch on them. Also, social media is used to share coded info. Govt have the right to be alert.
For people like us that banter online on frivolous things like family, food and stuffs like that, they care less
Even here, tall anyhow and they will pick you up though it's free world.

Or do you think ISLAMISM or COMMUNISM could potentially supplant DEMOCRACY?

How can we know if we don't try them

Capitalism has done its best ,let it give way to another form of government now .

Democracy doesn't have to be the way the west want it,but they don't get it and think it has to be universal.
Let's try another form of government and make informed decisions
Not solely rely on what the west , which has been proven to be hypocritical tell us about democracy.
Has the west not toppled democratically elected governments just because he didn't align with them?
To the west, democracy equals capitalism and thats why people are pushing back

TikTok's value will plummet if it's banned in the US, because of the enormous economic influence of the US. just look at what happened to Napster...
If the US government discovers that s are circumventing the ban, they may implement stringent measures, such as firewalls, to restrict all access to the app.

Just as the value of Huawei plummeted right?

You guys worship the US too blindly.

Wake up, the world has grown past this. The future is currently towards the East.

Many of you are missing the point cococandy was trying to make, it doesn’t matter whether Trump signed the bill or not, this banning idea was initiated by Trump and now the same Trump is acting like a nice guy who wants to sort things out.

Initiated how?

Like he came up with the bill right?

If yes, how come he didn't sign it only for Biden to do?

To the west, democracy equals capitalism and thats why people are pushing back

The idea that we should abandon capitalism and democracy for socialism, communism, or Islamism is not only misguided but also dangerous. Freedom is the cornerstone of human prosperity, and these alternative systems have consistently demonstrated their inability to provide it.

Capitalism, with all its flaws, has lifted millions out of poverty and created unprecedented prosperity. It's a system that rewards innovation, hard work, and entrepreneurship, allowing individuals to pursue their ions and improve their lives. In contrast, socialism and communism have been tried and failed, leading to economic stagnation, oppression, and human rights violations.

The notion that democracy must be abandoned because the West has promoted it is a false dichotomy. Democracy is a universal value that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries. It's a system that protects individual rights, promotes ability, and ensures that power is distributed evenly.

Moreover, the argument that the West has toppled democratically elected governments is a red herring. While it's true that Western powers have intervened in foreign governments, this doesn't negate the value of democracy itself.

In fact, studies have shown that economies with freer markets tend to have better outcomes, including higher incomes, better environmental outcomes, and improved healthcare. This is because capitalism promotes competition, innovation, and efficiency, leading to better products and services.

In conclusion, abandoning capitalism and democracy for socialism, communism, or Islamism would be a step backward. Freedom is the best thing in life, and no other system can provide it like capitalism. Rather than trying unproven and discredited alternatives, we should work to refine our democratic systems, promoting greater ability, transparency, and individual freedom.

unfortunately you can't. Our children are the ones developing modern techs these days. So you can't deny them access but just limit and watch their consumption. Period! 😏

Huawei's value didn't plummet because it was never totally banned in the US. The US government only prohibited federal agencies from using Huawei equipment, citing security concerns. Huawei's consumer business remained unaffected.

Regarding TikTok, a US ban would indeed impact its value, given the platform's significant base in the US. However, this isn't about 'worshipping' the US; it's about recognizing the country's influence on global markets.

The world is indeed evolving, and the East is rising. Still, the US remains a crucial player in global economics and technology. Ignoring this reality won't change the fact that US markets and decisions significantly impact global business.
