This is why I keep saying that,it is easier to make money but very hard to maintain it to last ur existence.

Aside health issues that can cripple ur wealth.

Don't ever use money from ur business to train ur children. Don't use ur salary or pension to train ur children never.

Use ive income to this and honestly,u won't blame
yourself for this.

Many people have actually become poor today because they failed to use other income source to drive their growth.

My dad was affected by the same thing .

Read this up on nairametrix
The Rich dad, poor dad same dad syndrome.

How you spend your wealth determines whether or not it will stay around for long. Secondly, the holy book says money grows wings and flies away by itself. This would suggest that if you don’t find a way to keep the money multiplying itself, you may one day wake up and discover the whole money you stored somewhere has gone, and you can’t for how it escaped. Use wealth to generate more wealth and don't just keep buying things just bc you are wealthy.
So this may be the cause

If your family was well off in the 1980’s, 1990’s, 2000’s and even 2010’s but today your family is struggling,
Please tell us what happened, what changed, where did things go wrong? What can we learn?
1980's - 1990's Dad was on his way to generational wealth level, but I guess poor planning and no zeal to push further put a spanner in the works. He still regrets to this day the opportunities he didnt take back then. Everyone is okay to an extent now, but not at the level that was envisaged.

My family was not wealthy then but comfortable. One could use the often misused words that we were once a middle-class family.

That generation has little or no education.

As business grew, other things also accompanied it.

No Financial Management skills
No Business Management skills
Little or No Savings
No adjustment to inflationary realities
Little understanding of the importance of Investments, especially in the stock market and real estate market.

But today, I have started correcting all those mistakes, and intentionally re-building wealth. Slowly, but Progressing.

We dont die, we multiply.

Good Topic

No matter how rich you are, you are not rich until you know the true value of money, this is the first thing you learn in life.

Learn to know the true value of money and how to multiply what ever you have, be trust worthy and be persistent

You must be extremely humble and lower yourself and learn skills required for business or trade management

But most time we don’t learn until we go broke for a long period and you see how people turn their back and switch from treating you nice to treating you bad , then you learn to manage your wealth so you never go broke again

Apart form economy down turn, I have people selling bicycles in Isale Agbede, but never changed their business. Keke is out of fashion. Also large families, many married more than one wife and having like 20 children. Advantages of having small family can't be over emphasise.
Give it to my igbomina people, investment is in their blood.

I am sorry but if your father was doing business in Brazil then he was most likely into the drug business.

I won't say rich per say maybe middle class, dad own two cars, multiple shops, didn't go to school but trained his brothers.

Business stopped prospering, his last shop got demolished.

Did he fuckkk a wrong hole? Lol

Seriously, I think the business changed and he didn't follow up. The children too, didn't follow up and he went out of business. I learned something from my dad too.. Always include your children in your business, they will notice when the business is changing on time.

Well,

Ours went from RICH to BROKE and now WEALTHY.

The only lessons you can use to GET OUT OF or NEVER GET INTO ANY SITUATION OF LACK/NEED are:

1) INVEST IN QUALITY RELATIONSHIPS

2) REMAIN TEACHABLE FOREVER

these two will help you NEVER TO FALL and if you ever do, YOU WILL BOUNCE BACK UP IN NO TIME.
I absolutely agree

Some wealth stays in the circle of the holder. Once the holder dies, everything diminishes with time...
This happens mostly to civil servants that got their means to riches why in service and no foresite to sustainable investment to keep the money revolving from generations to generation.ny
Everything still balls down to destiny and financial discipline...

Family should get ready for the unknown, especially in Nigeria setting.
Family should be proactive to prevent downfall in the family.
Children should also be equipped with quality education, skill , morals and discipline in order to beat life challenges.
