The child is three years old .... she needs to be thrown in prison. First off ...she is asking the child to write ... not spell ...to write "siss"....why wouldn't the child not be confused?..... at three years old he is too young to figure out she means "six". It's easy to judge another person when you're not in their shoes. I believe the teacher must have had her record in the school. If it says she's a habitual brute, then it can be concluded that she isn't fit for the job but if not, then she should be queried and left to continue her job. Working with kids can be tough. ing through the Nigerian schools, things like this aren't rare to find. It shouldn't be condoned but what I saw in the video isn't a scenario that warrants a state punishment yet.

It has nothing to do with pressure ...or the curriculum. It has everything to do with the incompetence of the teacher. I can understand flogging a child to focus ...not agree with it ...but understand. As a teacher ...she should see where he is going wrong and correct him ... show him the right way ...in this case 6 . Does he even understand she is talking about 6? In Nigeria,whenever know that there are different types of learning difficulties.
I didn't know too.
Google different learning difficulties.

At that age, if the child is not picking up like the rest, he is taken in for learning difficulty test and once the result is known, he is mentored accordingingly with the challenge he faces at the forefront.
If a child is not responding in class, a social worker should be involved.
Parents are investigated, if the parents are in the clear, learning difficulty is next which is done by a professional.

But seeing that it was during a one on one teaching session which probably was the teacher going extra mile to help him get his work right, I as his parent won't be too mad at her. There was no shouting, insults or cursing from the teacher. This shows she was still collected and in control of the situation despite not getting the expected result from the kid. She's at fault though and more should be demanded from her but it shouldn't be an overkill.
