He has explained that his price is below the price he bought it and probably below the current market price. What you should do is to his claims and bargain from a place of knowledge, while acknowledging that it is ultimately his item and he reserves to right to sell to you or not.

You guys should stop hiding under the cloak of "clearance sales" to display your criminal tendencies. It is nauseating
