T he Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu ordered the reintroduction of Nigerian History as a subject in basic education.

Speaking on Tuesday during Channels Television’s End-of-Year Special Review Show, Alausa stated,

“President Tinubu has mandated the return of Nigerian History as a subject in basic education.”

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters earlier reported that the Nigerian government announced the formal reintroduction of history as a subject in the country’s basic education curriculum after it was abolished 13 years ago.

Former President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua-led government in 2009 removed history from Nigeria's basic education curriculum supposedly because students were avoiding it with the claim that there were few jobs for history graduates, and that there was dearth of history teachers.

The facade and entanglement of "we SS/SE" is about to be exposed and dismantled. Let the kids in schools know that each minority is a unique tribe on its own and that nobody can impose another ethnicity on them by forcefully drawing them into a fraudulent map under a name that constitutionally does not exist. History will expose all the lies.

After God, na Tinubu 💪 God bless Nigeria

One of the problems with Nigeria is that policy makers and supervisors most times do not understand what they superintend over. It is most unfortunate that the minister who is supposed to be in a knowledgeable position is also committing the same faux pax as many uninformed Nigerians. For the ministers information, though History was removed from the curriculum of primary schools and junior secondary schools during Ya'Adua's era, it was returned to the curriculum under former president Jonathan. This, I know because I work with the curriculum. The Minister should query his officials who misinformed him. The problem is that most officers in most federal and state ministries of education do not even have copies of the curriculum being operated in the country more or less knowing what is inside.

History In Schools are skeletal, it is more of foreign history and little national history. Deliberately leaving out crucial historical events out of the curriculum because of primordial sentiments is not good for the cohesion of the country.

You know absolutely nothing about Rivers State. Port Harcourt was originally called igwe ocha before it was renamed after Lewis Vernon Harcourt

Port Harcourt, a city in Nigeria, was named after Lewis Vernon Harcourt, the then British Secretary of State for the Colonies, in 1913. The city was established during British colonial rule as a port for exporting coal from the nearby Enugu coalfields.

Another reason for evil forest dwellers to hate him. Tulumbu really want them to have a seaport. The salty tears they will have on this, combined with all the volume they've been having from generations past till now should be able to give them a sea to have a coast and then have a port.

Hope the history subjects will not be dictated by some revisionists forces who may decide to hide bitter facts by regulating what can be taught and what cannot?

When they are discussing the tribes of the Jan 15 1967 coup plotters hope a Yoruba Muslim teacher will not skip the names of Maj. Wale Ademoyega, Ganiuy Adeleke, Lt Fola Adeola etc, in order to promote the Ibo coup narrative

When they discuss the names of Senior officers killed by the 'Ibo coupists', I bet the same teacher would be tempted to skip the name of Col. Unegbe an Ibo officer who was also a victim of the 'Ibo coup'. grin

E go funny. Students go active baje for that class. grin

Nice one!

The younger generation must know what happened in yesteryears. They must be told the evil that was perpetrated by a tribe against a particular tribe In Nigeria. They must know why we are being marginalized despite our population and being one of the major tribes in the country

https://guardian.ng/news/buhari-orders-teaching-of-history-as-standalone-subject/

It's the weirdest thing. People act like they don't these declarations.

Dalohad:

If they decide to hide the facts what's stopping states from adding to the curriculum? The federal government never stopped any state from paying for history teachers anyway.

1999 constitution exclusive list:

60. The establishment and regulation of authorities for the Federation or any par thereof -

(e) To prescribe minimum standards of education at all levels.
