I have the same case too. I did my interview with spouse in Abuja on 16th December and i was told its successful. However, i got an email with supplementary questions to answer and reply the visa . So i did just that and they confirmed receipt of my email. But my wife was issued the visa. What that means is that you are placed on" istative processing" they will us when they are ready to issue the visa after their background checks.

For me i saw that my port was ready for pickup at OIS so i send some and collected the ports for the interim until they ask me to send it back to the embassy. check your email junk for the additional questions.

So, after filling out the DS160 form, you will then proceed to create a profile on the AVITS platform here: https://www.usvisaappt.com/visaapplicantui/ if you don't have an already.

After creating an , please follow through the process to activate your . After the activation is done, you'll be able to create an application request and begin your scheduling process. I believe you can pay online but when I did mine, I made a cash deposit payment at a First Bank branch. All you basically need is to convince them your will be back to your home country. They rarely ask for documents. These are the must haves below

1. port
2. port pic ( 2) check dimensions on their website.
3. DS 160 confirmation page
4. Appointment confirmation page
5. Payment confirmation page

Hello Bosses in the house, I paid application fee for my family and I since September on the avits platform, I checked back a couple of days later to schedule appointment but saw an error message that the payment was not successful due to insufficient amount paid but I was debited (I'm thinking this could have been a case of exchange rate). I have not been able to get this resolved since then, several tickets have been raised and even chats and calls but no resolution yet. Please is anyone experiencing this or does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this, thank you.

Call your bank and let them know that even though the payment you made wasn’t successful, your was debited.

Also, you can create a new ticket with AVITS. Highlight the payment transaction in your bank statement and it as evidence that your has been debited.

I started the application for one parent via the Avit portal - Shoild I proceed to create a new and start the other parent application OR should I use the same but start with a different application please. I think you mean to type March 2026.... No single date for Lagos in 2025 only Abuja from June+ 2025

Yes they give free SIM cards upon arrival. They even give you free iPhones at the port of entry. Most times they offer free hotels and free rides too

This is a long period to visit the US and may likely raise issues when renewing the visa.

I'm pretty sure she didn't say she was staying six months on her DS160.

It's highly likely that at the border she will be asked how long she'll stay in the US for.
She better rebook her return for a shorter period quickly.
She can always extend the date later.

I'm not sure what her future plans are with the use..but note that the decisions she makes today will affect her future tomorrow. Be guided

She had better smile prettily at the the officer at point of entry.

I doubt if they will ask her length of stay. I wasn't asked.


If they ask let her say 3weeks.

I stayed back a whooping 5mths 3weeks because i fell ill so maybe......

The duration is way too long .. She better change that return date to something around 2-3 weeks to avoid any problem at the POE . She can easily change the date when she enters the US but then why stay that long on a visitor's visa ?

No, your current date will not be canceled until you select another date and time and confirm. It will always ask you this question in your screenshot when you try to see the calendar.

I made a visa payment on the AVITS portal two weeks ago via online transfer to First Bank Direct, but the payment is yet to be confirmed, and I am unable to book an appointment. I have raised a ticket on the AVITS portal with no response, sent emails to [email protected] and [email protected] without receiving , and ed the First Bank Centre, providing all the necessary details, but still received no assistance.

I also entered the reference number and date under the bank deposit details, which showed "bank details updated successfully," but the page then redirects back to "generate deposit slip." You can always buy a pre-paid SIM card and use it with your mobile phone as an alternative to the eSIM. You don’t require any contract and you pay for what you use. T-mobile, ATT, mint, metro PCS and a few others offer cheap prepaid options. I always get prepaid for my mum when she visits and she uses it with her iPhone.

What the First Bank of Nigeria is requesting from you is the amentum number.

Please with this new website, can one change confirmation number if there was a mistake in the first one?
