Can you imagine? Nosferatu will not probably show in Nigerian cinemas.

Of course, the typical superstitious average Nigerian will not see a pure horror movie. Thus, pure horror movies aren't popular demand in Nigeria.

Hope this is a bloôdy joke. 🙄

Film that I've been waiting for to watch in cinemas this Xmas, I'm just waiting to round up my workload and travels this week.

This people better not whine me. Movie that is performing well in US theatres with good numbers.

Release shakeup at WB.

Matt Reeves slow pace in turning up a script has essentially removed The Batman II from 2026 release.

For the better. If Superman flops on 2025, Batman II can distance itself grin grin

You've captured the essence of the situation. Zack Snyder isn't even on my list of favorite directors. While I've both praised and criticized some of his works, the current discourse on comic accuracy and this whole "ideal Superman" rubbish is excessively one-sided. Since 2010, a majority of directors have taken liberties with comic book characters, reshaping them to suit the stories they wish to tell. Even directors renowned for crafting exceptional comic book adaptations have been found guilty of this practice at some point.

For me a prime illustration of this is "The Dark Knight Rises". We all know the rendition of Bane in that film is not the one from the comics. However, integrating a comic-accurate Bane into that particular plotline would have posed its own challenges. Christopher Nolan excelled in delivering a compelling story in that movie, that's why Bane's comic inaccuracy is not the predominant talking point wherever that movie is discussed.

Soon James Gunn will begin to reinterpret characters and their origin stories within the DC Universe, it's something that's surely inevitable. Gunn executed this strategy effectively in the MCU, with Adam Warlock serving as the biggest let down in my opinion. While envisioning a comic-accurate Adam Warlock within the MCU, particularly in *Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3*, raises questions, I find solace in the fact that the film exemplifies a stellar comic book movie. Therefore, the criticisms leveled against Snyder regarding comic accuracy appear unfounded in the broader context of comic book adaptations.

Seriously?!

Only a Snyder hater would ever say this. The PR against Snyder Superman would only end up elevating it. Nothing gunn wants to do that will reach Cavill embodiment of Superman

This is rubbish
Waiting 5 years for a sequel is unfair to both the actors and the audience that will pay to watch. They need to stop all these unnecessary delays. Pattinson will be in his 40's playing Batman's 2nd and 3rd year and it's meant to be a trilogy.

I don't think superstitions are the reasons why Nigerians don't see Hollywood horror movies, I just think it has to do with the fact that most Nigerians would prefer action movies genre in a cinema than the horror genre.

The cinema owners are not helping either, they select movies to display based on a certain demographic of viewers and thus abandoning other genre which they think wouldn't fetch them money.

Let me give you the attention you have been trying to get from me for weeks now because I'm in a mellow mood this morning.

I know you live to troll because nothing else brings you joy in that meaningless series of even more meaningless events that es for your existence, but see, since your family failed to contain you before you strolled into the market and had access to Internet connection, we, the sane of the society will keep working tirelessly to have you committed into an asylum, starting from Nairaland.

Wrong. That is the reason. The cinema owners show movies according to the market (customers' taste). Most Nigerians aren't into horror movies. Thanks to religion and superstitious beliefs. Nigerian women especially. You can even ask our very own Ishilove.

Lol. If we are to go personal, you already know that I live a far better life than you.

You know nothing about international politics, yet you chase men who are based abroad (even me at a point). KoiceReloaded even yabbed you on this.

I can buy a ticket to Ghana for you. At least so that you can leave the Nigerian boarder for once in your life. Being a local champion cannot be your life ambition

I was feeling generous so I decided to throw a scrap of attention to him, and like the demented dog that he is, he is now so happy and feeling fulfilled with his life.

I doubt that the script isn't ready, especially with the fact that the statement in itself is ambiguous and would most likely mean that James Gunn doesn't approve of the script yet, because Matt Reeves said this a few days ago, so it not grounds for shifting the movie by over a year

And also no way they are allowing two Batman related movies release weeks apart, with clayface being the priority because it's in the DCU

"Le Comte de Monte Cristo" (AKA "The Count of Monte Cristo" (2024)

I have never read the book The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I know nothing about this story... I loved the movie from beginning to end. A movie about revenge after Edmond Dantès suffered a plot against him. The 3 hours of the movie are a pleasure to watch.
I was in the story, which is very interesting. I really liked the music, the sets, the costumes, the casting, the unfolding of the story. Pierre Niney was excellent in his role. It was a great French movie that can compete with some American movies.

.there is a series out on it ..

Would it be a good watch .? .. is it an extension of the movie??

I don't even understand what's taking up Reeves time in delivering a script all this while.

The Batman premiered 8 Months before James Gunn was hired as DC Studios Co-CEO; and by the time The Batman II releases in 2027, the new DCU would have released at least 7 DCU PROJECTS.
That's too slow a process from Matt Reeves.

I gave you the reason for horror movies.

Not all movies (from different genres) make it to Nigerian cinemas. There are many reasons why a movie will not make Nigerian cinema-

1. If a movie is not released widely in America
2. If a movie has LGBT content
3. If the cinema owners feel like the movie won't sell well in Nigeria.

I feel number 3 reason, and it's the reason I've given earlier, is the reason why horror genre don't make it to the cinema in Nigeria.

How many Nigerian movie lovers even go to cinema to watch a movie let alone watch horror genre? The last time I saw a movie at the cinema, the room was littered with empty seats. We werent up to 30 in the cinema room and that was on a Sunday o. Things are very hard in this country so the cinema owners would always go for movies that would draw movie lovers to their cinemas and make them money and horror movies are movies Nigerians prefer to watch on high seas. Nigerians prefer to watch blockbuster movies & horror genres are hardly in that category.

I went to watch the new alien movie this year. The cinema was almost full.

That is a horror movie. Although it is mostly sci-fi action, it is a horror movie.

Now, the point is that

1. Horror movies can be blockbusters
2. The average Nigerian does not like horror movies due to religion/superstition
3. Hence, pure horror movies won't be shown by cinema operators

Country is hard but car dealers are selling Landcruiser Prados everyday. The cheapest tokunbo model from 2011 is about 38 million.

The country is not hard for 25% of the population.
