Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has addressed residents of the state over Wednesday's military air strike in the state.

A fighter jet has mistakenly bombed two communities in the Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Wednesday morning.

The incident left at least 10 innocent villagers dead and several others injured.

The governor, who visited the affected communities, sympathised with the community and described the incident as unfortunate.

He later issued a press statement addressing residents of the state.

Read his full statement:
My dear people of Sokoto State,

It is with a heavy heart that I address you following the tragic incident in the communities of Gidan Bisa and Runtuwa in the Silame Local Government Area.

This heartbreaking event, caused by an accidental misfire from the Nigerian Army, has claimed the lives of innocent citizens and left several others injured.

As your governor, I am deeply saddened by this avoidable loss of life. On behalf of the government and the people of Sokoto State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. We also pray for the swift recovery of those injured in this unfortunate incident.

I want to assure you that I am in direct communication with the leadership of the Nigerian Army to ensure a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to this tragedy.

The state government will do everything within its power to the affected families and engage with the relevant authorities to prevent such occurrences in the future. This is a time for us to stand united as a community.

I urge all residents to remain calm and pray for peace in our state and nation. May the Almighty comfort the bereaved families and grant eternal rest to the departed souls.

I visited the affected areas to assess the situation firsthand and have directed a donation of N20 million along with 100 bags of assorted food items to the families of the deceased.

This is intended to alleviate their suffering and cover the medical bills of those hospitalized due to their injuries from the bombardment.

Together, we will overcome this difficult moment and work towards ensuring that such tragedies do not happen again.

Ordering an investigation where the military is concerned just means forget about ever getting justice if ure civilian. No assurances that it will never happen again, just photo ops & an offer that can never replace the value of lost lives. undecided

Why are the Mods nöt putting this on the FP, like they put the information of lies the Navy released clamining no such thing happened

Back to Topic;

Some people still do not understand that When a "mistake" of such magnitute happens once too many , it can no longer be termed a "mistake" but an action with intent. In sane climes, People resign as a result of such "mistakes" without been told to do so. An incompetent person or soldier must/ should be disciplined for such incompetent "mistakes"

These "mistakes" has occured too many often. There has never been any form of Resignation or discipline. No one cares. The bombings will d5efinitely not stop., has no Plan of stopping the "mistakes"

With the communities " mistakenly" bombarded,, comfortably i can say that most of the indigens of that community will never come back to their communities.. This " mistake" is one reason indigenous communities are detached forever from their roots

Most of them will be sent to IDP camps where they will face more attacks from terrorists. They will be forced to leave their communities on the pretext of whatever the state governor will sell to them

I am very much interested to know which ethnic group is in a majority in those communities. If Hausas are more,, they sholud count their indigenous land as gone because the terrorists from jalon will one day host their jihadist flag in those communities.

We have seen pictures of the bombed communities but where are the dead cadaver of the terrorists. It was only stated that "10 people from the community lost their lives [definitely higher] but no bodies of any terrorist

A word is enough for the wise. Hausa people should wake up already

It's happening because Nigeria is country not growing in proportion to its riches and population. And FG isn't considering population control measures or genuinely saving for scarcity times. Any country that services debts too much, pay politicians heavily isn't a seruous govt.
You get it?

Well, na those their bitterness and pains dey sweet me .

Good job by the military and may God crown their efforts with success.”

You are so hypocritical. Change your lifestyle.

The case of terrorism in Nigeria is complex..

In my opinion, I don't believe terrorism and banditry can thrive anywhere the community are not in of these criminals..

It's possible the military intelligence would have identified terrorists in most of these areas (Maybe not all, because accidents do happen) before the strikes..
..and as usual, the communities will come out to say they are not terrorists but villagers.

Don't blame the army too much. These terrorists are often mixed with and shielded by these villagers. At times, they are their kinsmen. So it is often difficult to root out these terrorists without some collateral damages.
