Ok. So one is bonus and the other share redistribution. But the point being discussed is only one regarding the likely effect on SP when minority shareholders are suddenly given. what appears to be free shares, which they may dump on the market. This is the same in both cases.

megawealth01:

Abeg no compare the two for now... Na different situation jare grin

But you were bashing Oando management just yesterday, and praising Seplat and Aradel instead.
Will you ask father Wale for forgiveness now?
Until he fulfills the share redistribution process, it is still all talks no motion.

MTN Nigeria's revenue for the full year 2023 was ₦2.46 trillion. Unless their monthly revenue increases to over ₦2.58 trillion, it will be impossible for the company to pay ₦200 billion in VAT each month.

It will be a beautiful idea if they decide to dump it and crash the price. I wanted that too in ucap but it has not yet happened .The funny part is i believe oga proxies are the ones who will benefit most in this arrangement. How many shares does individual minority shareholders really have in a whole .The people who really have quantity no go sell because they know better. Did you ever think wale is about to lose his percentage holding in this new game...haba my people. It is called street sense.

It is all about increasing oga holdings indirectly. Alhaji wanted to use rice to corner majority dangota food to himself. Wale has more to gain in what ever is happening that is the hidden truth

In the case of a bonus, the share price would be marked-down (reduced) automatically by the NGX, to adjust for the effect of the bonus ratio.
In the case of shares redistribution, there will not be any reduction in the share price by NGX because there are no new shares being issued.
As per people rushing to sell their shares, you cannot do anything about that. The tendency is always there in the market. You just have to wait and decide when to sell your own shares at the price that you want.

Correct. My Oyedele had clarified two weeks ago that the 200B is for the year (not monthly). Not sure why fake figures are in the news again.

You may just have to stop disturbing yourself with some of these things....
Sell OANDO and move to your ARADEL that gives you peace of mind if you don't trust investment with Wale
What else do you want this guy to do again?....
Easier said than done.....talk is so cheap.
Allow them breathe abeg.

As for the share distribution and bonus that someone is splitting.....Is it not similar?
Make Una stop confusing unaself nah.
In this OANDO case, it's not new shares but bonus coming in form of "dividend", so no dilution.

Did UCAP crash in price after giving 2:1 bonus?
These companies have MM and proxies that can swing into action once there's need to do so, so let's all chill and allow them do their thing.

May be a good news for the country but I think, it may reduce local revenue generation from the oil sectors which has been doing transactions in dollars.

I don't think this would reduce the country's revenue because all transactions would be done in accordance with $/# exchange rate at the time of the transaction

This is absolute bollocks
Even the gulf countries still trade on hard currency in exchange for their minerals
Nigerian Naira has never been a functional currency, is not a functional currency, and will never be a functional currency
So these jokers have to stop this clown act

Only eight functional/convertible currencies exists
USD | EUR | GBP | CHF | HKD | AUD | CAD | JPY

if your currencies are not any of the above, then this silly move is a pipe dream

I would even prefer they delay the announcement of the new qualification date so that these impatient investors can bring down the price for those who know the true value of what is coming to load more.

Some of these sellers specifically the E&Ps dual list on foreign exchanges with foreign investors--OandO as well as Seplat as well as have their base outside Nigeria -Total, Chevron, etc.

My question then is:
If the seller is paid in Naira, what stops him/her from coverting the naira back to dollars? undecided

With the kind of huge transaction in these deals, just 1% volatility in Naira
(esp downward) can affect their face value big time as with the forex losses of some companies.

Once the management has published the information and AGM resolution has adopted it, they would have to implement it within the shortest possible time. I guess Oando management wanted to use it to compensate shareholders for the Xmas/new year season, hence the announcement at this time of the year.
People holding Oando must know its value potentials by now. 2025 will be very loud

ADDRESSING NNPCL'S MISINFORMATION

We have received numerous inquiries from the media and other concerned stakeholders seeking clarification on a recent report attributed to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) that their decision to secure a $1 billion loan backed by its crude was instrumental in ing the Dangote refinery during liquidity challenges.

We would like to clarify that this is a misrepresentation of the situation as $1bn is just about 5% of the investment that went into building the Dangote Refinery.

Our decision to enter into a partnership with NNPCL was based on recognition of their strategic position in the industry as the largest off taker of Nigerian crude and at the time, the sole supplier of gasoline into Nigeria.

We agreed on the sale of a 20% stake at a value of $2.76 billion. Of this, we agreed that they will only pay $1 billion while the balance will be recovered over a period of 5 years through deductions on crude oil that they supply to us and from dividends due to them. If we were struggling with liquidity challenges, we wouldn't have given them such generous payment . As at 2021 when the agreement was signed, the refinery was at the pre-commission stage. In addition, if we were struggling with liquidity issue, this agreement would have been cash based rather than credit driven.

Unfortunately, NNPCL was later unable to supply the agreed 300 thousand barrels a day of crude given that they had committed a greater part of their crude cargoes to financiers with the expectation of higher production which they were unable to achieve.

We subsequently gave them a 12-month period for them to pay cash for the balance of their equity given their inability to supply the agreed crude oil volume. NNPCL failed to meet this deadline which expired on June 30th 2024. As a result, their equity share was revised down to 7.24%. These events have been widely reported by both parties.

It is, therefore, inaccurate to claim that NNPCL facilitated a $1 billion investment amid liquidity challenges. Like all business partners, NNPCL invested, $1 billion in the Refinery to acquire an ownership stake of 7.24% stake that is beneficial to its interests.

NNPCL remains our valued partner in progress, and it is imperative for all stakeholders to adhere to the facts and present the narrative in the correct context, to guide the media in reporting accurately for the benefit of our stakeholders and the public.
