We need to start baning POS dealers, especially those using it as a source of business, instead of payment option it was made for.
POS operators was never the problem and will never be the problem. We are just looking for a scapegoat. POS operators were existing before now.

Personally, I don't like cash, and that 20k daily max cash withdrawal is just okay. I sometimes go for several days without further cash withdrawal after a day of 20k withdrawal.

I'm comfortable with this because I don't go to the market to buy tomatoes, meat, onions and all that where most of the market women don't have bank s. Even some that have may not agree with the idea of transfer.

But the concern here is that how do POS operators source for funds to meet cash requirements of women who are majorly involved in these types of shoppings? Generally, banks should provide acceptable alternatives without imposing additional undue hardship on people.
In a sane country, shey pos suppose dey?

POS operations should be restricted to rural areas.

How do we explain the fact that many banks and ATMs in Lagos have 2 or more POS vendors within the same perimeter? Visit some of these ATMs and you'll find one agent standing right beside the machine waiting for customers.

Why is this CBN Governor not addressing Nigerians ...I find it absurd to go to ATM and I can only collect 5,000 naira when Nigeria is not at war or in a warlike situation.

What is really going on? Are banks folding up secretly?

This is one of those moments you wish Emir Sanusi was still CBN Governor...he would have whipped bank MD's in line.

Now it seems banks do not even send CBN Governor.. everyone is doing as they like.

Shut the Bleep up. Emefiele has left since two years and naira and the economy has gone into shambles. You're still blaming him

The POS operators are not the problem, the majority of Petrol stations, market women, bakery, motor pack people, cold room/frozen food sellers e.t.c are no longer taking there money to the Bank again, they prefer to sale it to POS operators and gain more money without any stress...

I find this laughable. Cash scarcity, yet you can get 1 million Naira cash from POS vendors, but banks say they cannot pay you more than 20k cash. grin Ha! E nor go better for who spoil this country. cry

Some of these POS operators now prefer to buy Naira from market women, wholesalers, filling stations, etc. They're buying Naira from traders to resell to customers.

Everyone has turned to POS operator. As long as the number of POS operators keep increasing there will always be Naira scarcity.
Businesses are no more taking their cash to bank for deposit instead they sale it to POS operators.
It’s time banks need to think how to attract business depositors back their counters.

By end of January, there will be enough cash everywhere in Nigeria. Men who are Big Fish, don load all the cash they need to spray during burials and traditional weddings, this season, into their bags and luggage. That is why there is no cash inside the bank, and there is also no cash outside the bank.

Nigeria Banking system is finished walahi. I couldn't not get more than 5k from the ATM yesterday. But POS was supplying steady

The banking system is not the problem.
the POS operators are the problem.

Traders no longer take their money to the bank.
I was at NNPCL Alfred Rewane last time I was in the country and about 3POS agents were standing and waiting to buy cash from the guy.

It's the same thing whit the market women and artisans. They make an extra change selling the cash to the agents so to them it is wiser.
At NNPCL opposite VGC, the guys stationed one of their staff ( I knew she was a staff because she still had her pants on) just around the corner, they said they were accepting only cash, so we are forced to go collect money from her to buy the fuel from the same gas station.
We pay for the fuel and they return the money to the lady to sell for another customer.
They keep recycling the money while making money.....
Money is no longer getting to the banks.
And the banks can't force people to bring their money....

As far as I am concerned the POS business is illegal, it is buying and selling of Naira which is illegal by law

na when fuel done cost? Who will go to bank to deposit when they can give the same to pos operators? To get cash as pos operator is not easy as you think. They offer some money to enticed people to sell for them.

These confused Lagos builders implementing the same cashless policy Emiefele implemented and is getting cruficied, but now through the back door.

Same way PDP was accused of paying subsidy by the demonic party called APC, yet they came back and paid more calling it under recovery

YOU SOUND AND TRULY ARE STEWPID ING APC
Nigerians didn't criticize the cashless policy. I wander why you guys just love lying. Cashless policy was started by Sanusi, it's a step by step process. Only Emefiele can explain why he has rush the process that will take years to accomplish. Even the banks were not ready for the step Emefiele took.

Can you point to one financial institution around the world who ed the move? It was a very stupid move. There's presently more than #4,000,000,000,000 naira notes on the street, naira notes on the street was not up to #300,000,000,000. It's so insane for anybody to even compare the two scenerio

have you forget that the naira lost value?

When any currency lost value in turn it means thry need to print more money or introduce higher denominations to counter the short fall.

Things that use to sell for 1m before this government came on board is now about 5m so any thinking person should know currency scarcity is inevitable.

Cash scarcity but almost all the 500 and 1000 notes had 2024 as their print date. Nigeria!

Cash scarcity in a country that has only 45% of 15+ having an with a financial institution.

Cashless policy is good but the country is just not ready.
