Gun control laws do not apply to criminals as they do not operate under the law, these laws instead handicap law abiding citizens from protecting themselves. Why should govt be in the position to be feeding kids for an extended period? The welfare of children should lie mostly on the parent. You gave birth and brought a child to life because you wanted to and believe you can care for them, Do people birth children to do the govt a favor or for govt to help you care for?

Govt run welfare programs should be very short term temporary and very specific set of people. The problem with long-term reliance on welfare can discourage self-sufficiency and personal responsibility which is a core value of conservatives.
Its a party of personal responsibility. The help should be to empower families economically so they can raise and cater for the kids the way they desire, Govt did not force anyone to have families. This is why I am personally pro abortion. Only birth kids you can care for economically and emotionally

The only people that can care for children effectively is the immediate family not govt, strong family units as the primary system for children. conservative Policies favor traditional family values, parental rights in education which are vital for children’s well-being. Gun control laws are not about banning guns. Gun control is about limiting the ability of criminals to access guns especially assault rifles. If all states had equal gun control measures, a criminal who’s prohibited from owning guns in California will not be able to cross over to Florida and obtain them easily. That’s why everyone has to be equally on board or it won’t work.

I own 3 guns. I’m not a bleeding-heart-no-violence-ever liberal. If I need to defend myself, I’m prepared to do that. But at the same time, I’m not emotionally attached to my guns. I also know that gun control measures are not formed against law abiding citizens. That’s a conservative lie than is told to keep people voting for them.

We’re not the only 1st world country in the world yet we’re the ones with highest gun violence and it’s all because of ample access to guns. Americans aren’t inherently more violent. Our lax laws/enforcement just make it easy for criminals to get guns.

Yes I agree with strict enforcement of already existing laws. I also agree with addressing mental health issues. But do you know why our mental health system is worse than it was in the past? Because republicans vote against healthcare access to everyone. As recently as 2022, 205 republican lawmakers voted against mental health access to school children (of course). These kids are the ones shooting up their fellow students. I know they’ll call it welfare. We need to stop seeing things that help people and the society at large as bad because it was made accessible to everyone and paid by tax dollars.

Food for kids in schools is an investment in the future of the country. Children are not expected to be self reliant and personally responsible. Punishing them for their parent’s actions solves nothing. Instead they go hungry and don’t learn. You’re not teaching the parents anything and the kid misses out on opportunities to learn because they’re busy being hungry. That’s a no brainer to me. We can clearly see the difference in countries who do this versus America.

Why should govt be in the position to be feeding kids for an extended period? The welfare of children should lie mostly on the parent. You have it upside down here. Caring for families start with having the number of kids you can cater for knowing your income, your lifestyle. Your health. You cannot have capacity for 2 kids have 7 and say your income cannot cater for it so employers have to pay you more than your skill level because you have kids or employers have to bend their company policies for you because you have kids.
