smiley smiley The President Tinubu has my respect, for bringing such a thoughtful bill cool. First time Mr Tinubu is making a lot of senses.

It is a wonderful bill, each state should be encolaged to exploit their resources and benefit from it, by thinking wisely and taking wise actions wink

How about oil and gas revenues? is the oil and gas producing states meant to "exploit their resources and benefit from it"?

Not until fiscal federalism with resource control is introduced in Nigeria - as done in other federations in the world. For now, the dole system of going to Abuja every month-end for federal allocations rules Nigeria. Imagine US states depending on Washington DC capital for monthly doles to operate.

This is a commendable move and it will be interesting to see what their outcome will be
They already met before and outrightly rejected the bill for selfish reasons that do not serve the people but them alone.

Nigerians are not waiting for the 'Best President, we will never have it.
We just want a sensible visionary leader with integrity.
This present Tinubu -led APC government is corrupt and lacks integrity, can not be trusted.

Is Tinubu led APC government not visionary and sensible to undertake the necessary reforms the past leaders have shied away from?

His government might be ridden with corruption and lacks integrity. What about the past istrations that chickened out from undertaking and implementing the reforms the country needed?

As I saw it, he might not be able to stop the corruption in the subsidy regime because of the rots in the system but to remove it. Now he's gradually cleaning up the system to make it viable and healthy. At least, give him credit for the little achievements and success.

The way you people show your brainlessness on this app is amazing.

Yes the federal government funds the states in the US. Policies are generated on a federal level and left to states to implement same as in Nigeria.

When you stop being slaves your brains may finally work smh

Tinubu needs to explain the bill to the common man and how the funds - coming from people that are already struggling to survive will not end up in private or even foreign pockets as has been happening for decades.

Can someone please explain what this tax reform means? I am really serious
The tax reform means every state of the federation should strive to contribute their quota by reason of the resources available in their States to the central purse. For instance, if in IMO state, the resources available to them generate 100% profit in a year,60% profit would be given to them for their state development while 40% will be taken by the central government. A state without any effort to generate resources available to them would just have a meagre % of national allocation. Not the present case where, whether you labour or not there's federal allocation for you to take from the center. In a way, every state is to utilizes the resources available to them since the resources are sparsely distributed across the nation.Recently, Kaduna state has just discovered, Quartz for making clocks and electronic devices. If she succeeded in exploiting it well sixty percentage of the resources will be to develop Kaduna and the forty percent to the nation purse. LOBATAN! CHIKENA!

Tinubu does really cares for second term but his willingness to put Nigeria right outweigh any personal ambition. That's a stuff of a real leader. I'm not happy with his other reforms causing us to suffer but doing something that is confusing the entire Northern leaders leeches like this is a big relief.

Best way for them to go. I've never been a fan of Tinubu and I've never ed APC, not after Buhari successfully recked the country.

The problems of Nigeria is foundational. Every past governments has shied away from introducing the necessary reform needed to set the country on the path of growth, success, prosperity, righteousness but Tinubu has decided to tackle the issues headlong without waiting to do that in his second term.

I've come to realization, Tinubu doesn't care if his policies will cost him second term though some of his actions and other government officials might show otherwise.

Hate him or love him, he might end up to be the best President of Nigeria so far.

Best where? How is much is bag of Rice, naira- dollar, other food stuffs, ,T- fare. The reality is the condition of living in Nigeria..Una dey think at all ?

You are calling your slave masters jokers

Your Yoruba elders will soon deny you like they did to Sunday Igboho

Better respect the north that comes to your region and beat you blue black

You talk without thinking. If Azikiwe didn't present himself a slave to the north, we won't be where we are today. Have you Igbos ever sorted to collaborate with SW? No, you have also always tilted towards the north. Obi has been channeling a lot resources towards the north cause he knows how important they are albeit in the strength of their population.

How did Yoruba elders deny Sunday Igboho? Why is your memory so short? Have you forgotten that it was Yoruba elders that rallied round to make sure Sunday Igboho was not brought back to Nigeria immediately he was arrested in Benin Republic? Yoruba leaders were proactive and that's why Sunday Igboho is walking free today.

On the other side, Sunday Igboho was arrested just in nearby Benin Republic but the Nigeria government didn't succeed in bringing him back due to the moves made by Yoruba elders but look at Nnamdi Kanu who was arrested all the way in Kenya but was brought to Nigeria. What were Igbo elders doing? They looked on till Kanu was forcefully brought back to Nigeria and it is still an Igbo man that is claiming Yorubas deny Igboho. This obviously shows how shallow your thinking is, so abysmal. Has ability to read and write but yet very illiterate.

Putting the cart before the horse
That what should gave been done earlier
Why condemn when what you've not critically analyse
It was when everybody was asking for their reason then they set up committe. Even renowned Prof Zulum couldn't pick up out a section but was just blackmailing the bill
Although better late than never

Lazy Northern governors. They should all sit down and make their states viable, the time for free money is gone. Let them stop all the illegal nd free mining then remit the money to the federal government for equitable distribution.
Meti99(m): 5:51am On Dec 07, 2024
By the time these Northern people are through with this Bill, it will rather become Tax Meaningless Bill.
They will make every other region feel the north is vulnerable and should therefore be considered..
Or still better they'll make sure they delay this bill for another 20years

The north are a parasitic beggars who believe they can't survive without money from other regions. The northern elders alongside the governors, past and present have only shown the kind of failure they are notwithstanding the fact that they have enjoyed resources in Nigeria more than others.
