franchasofficia:
Yoruba people of our time will live to regret the foolish tribalism Tinubu's politics is teaching them. It always look sweet at the beginning.

The message is being received all over the world. Notes are being taken.

What is the big deal in people celebrating their culture?

Something Yorubas ought to have enjoyed watching it display for fun. Yoruba people, what are you guys afraid of of recent? It's not normal, nature's call will come, you will reap the fruit of your unwarranted wickedness and hatred towards Igbos.

That Tinubu stole Presidential mandate from Peter Obi does not mean Yoruba have conquered Nigeria and Igbos as you people foolishly believe. Time will tell.

We shall see to it.

What stops Yorubas living in Southeast from taking Eyo Masquerade to Southeast to celebrate Eyo day of which Igbos will be glad to gather to watch it display.

Yorubas know it that you guys are being foolish and taking your tribalism and hatred for Igbos too far and thinking you have won forever just cos Tinubu snatched the Presidential mandate.

We Igbos gladly sew Yoruba Agbada and even take it to our various villages during Xmas or other festive periods to wear cheerfully and display our love for Yoruba culture even in our own villages without your presence. Igbos have never stopped Yorubas from going to Onitsha, Aba, Owerri, Enugu or Abakaliki to live freely and associate as they love.

Igbos I know would be glad to watch Eyo Masquerade or any other Yoruba masquerade come to Southeast to display. But here are Yorubas rejoicing over this show of shame of stopping Igbos from bringing an Igbo Masquerade to Lagos to perform for fun. Whereas Igbos even take their masquerade to Europe, America, Asia, Australia, etc to celebrate Igbo day and oyimbo will gladly visit to watch and catch fun of diverse culture. It's okay we are getting your messages.

Una go collect back all these nonsense from nature not even from Igbos.

My father said Igbos cried in Plateau, Benue, Kaduna and some Middlebelt states when Middlebelt people colluded with Hausa-Fulanis to massacre unarmed civilian Igbos living in their communities because of the fall out of military coups of 1966. He said many innocent Igbos cried and cursed that Middlebelt lands will reap the fruit of their unjust wickedness against Igbos but most of them laughed it off that nothing will happen.

Decades later, look at what is happening to Middlebelt, Kaduna and the entire North. Massacre of innocent people everyday by known and unknown militant groups, terrorists and gunmen.

Yoruba people tread with caution for it is not yet an Uhuru for you guys

Time will teach you people a bitter lesson of the different nonsense you guys have been doing just because Tinubu became President by crooks.

Yoruba land flourished and remained peaceful because your forefathers followed peace and friendship pathway but you Yoruba children of today chose to follow Bola Tinubu's divisive, ethnocentric and nepotistic politics of hatred, division and sectionalism. You guys should prepare for the outcome.

The fruit of your wicked farming today will full several baskets in due time.
I tried not to reply you but I couldn't resist the urge.
Someone said up there that the 2023 elections awakens the Yoruba. This same Tinubu you keep mentioning has never been tribalistic. Tinubu was among or the first governor in Nigeria to appoint different tribes into his cabinet; he appointed Ben Akabueze as a commissioner then; ibos were working in different government parastals in Lagos state.

Ask people living in Amuwo Odofin some years back; ibos do contest for chairmanship election because they are close to being the majority there. Even in Ojo local government. Even when some of us see these posters of ibos contesting for elections in those days we just overlook the scenario and move on with our daily lives.

But things took a turn, when the ibos ed Gbadebo for Lagos state governorship; trying to distort Lagos state political plans. The truth of the matter is; you can participate in the politics of the locales wherever you are; but the moment you start ing or dictating or coercing your people to vote for the opponent of the preferred locales you are already ing your boundary. Even if you have a preferred candidate in mind don't make it too open to your hosts.

You can see that Obi won Lagos; is it only the ibos working in Lagos that voted for him? Even the Yorubas are tired of APC all because of Buhari. The governorship election took a turn when your people started boasting of unseating Sanwo-olu you sef think am naaaa it doesn't make sense.

Yoruba community in Abia state cannot be declaring openly that they will unseat Otti.

And lastly, I was discussing politics with MI ibo drycleaner last year and this same issue cropped up. I directed a question to him and I will also direct the same question to you.

You are a landlord in an estate; it's time to elect the estate chairman and other landlords have showed interest and started campaigns. Some of your tenants are now pasting the posters of your opponent on the wall of your house rooting for your opponent to win the estate chairmanship position. They were even discussing it in your compound that your opponent must win at all cost. Though it's within their constitutional rights to vote for whoever they want. There are even some tenants that came in with financial problems who didn't even complete your rent but you still assisted them. You even gave some of them job and contracts. Please with all sincerety, how will you feel ?

Was he coming as masquerade or as human with his regalia in a bag....?

This is called fear ojuju🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. It will cause no mayhem against what is speculated. But to my own opinion, Ajofia should remain in Igbo land and anybody that wants to see it should come to Igbo festival in the East. That is what makes it unique. Many people from the East has been speaking against the proposed visit to Lagos saying that it should be called off. Ajofia should remain secluded to the east because too much traveling will make it less attractive. Personally I have not seen it live despite coming from the East.

This is the problem most of you have, you make this thing look like power tussles, now has the Yoruba or Lagosians tried to bring their Eyo masquerade to East and it was halted?.....any proves

Stop instigating fear and tension among two tribes...
Am not a traditionalist, has no relationship with the masquerade and won't have any day...
Don't just bring an assumption without evidence and assume it as a fact..

Our approach to this ibos is too calm, that's why they still ask stvpid and f00lish question. It's just a matter of time.

Inferiority complex, fear and tribalism can't be far from the decision of the Police....

Let's call a spade a spade...

Is the masquerade going to start from Oshodi and parade up to Lekki or start from Oshodi and parade down to Volks, Badagry

Is just coming to a spot , display and go....and is not to everybody's desire to come and watch...

You IGBOS are the ones goading and crying since the last elections. Hausas and other tribes also contested in the election and they have all moved on except Igbos. Insulting Yorubas here are there because majority did not Obi as if you people ed Tinubu or as if it is by force to Obi. A lot of Yorubas even voted Obi yet you bunch of ungrateful tribe will still insult all Yorubas collectively.
Tell me how can winners be the ones goading ? Someone won an election and he is still one goading! And you think that you are making sense!
If dem born una well make una bring the masquerade to Lagos! As if you people can allow other tribes to do such on Igbo land!

Now I am an Ndigbo, did you read what I posted or are you responding to the wrong post?

Is Ajofia and his follower's rights not infringed upon?

That's the most important issue.
If not, then let them go play somewhere else.

Honestly the last election caused a lot of damage to the relationship between the yorubas and the igbos. Before now, the yorubas do not care if igbo man is Eze in Lagos, or masquerade of nnewi coming to Lagos or igbos appointed commissioners all of a sudden the yorubas are now becoming hostile to anything igbo. I would say the igbos are the architect of whatever the yorubas of Lagos are dishing out to them right now.
For peace to reign, let everyone stay in their regions and perform traditional masquerade dance as they like. It is excesses taking the gods of a region to a different region. The gods of the second region will be angry.
Before we start having sango/ogún fighting with amadioha

Oga, what the guy said is entirely true. In my hometown, one part celebrate Oro, while the other part use masquerade during their annual festival. The Masquerade doesn't cross to the other side of Town and normal activities goes on, on the other side while the Oro do their thing.
And you are comparing Igunu to this Ajofia? Seriously? I mean, we've had centuries of relationship with the Nupe people and there have been cultural exchanges between the two tribes. Same thing can't be said about the igbos

I am not talking about cross town masquerades, the poster talked about masquerades from other towns is why I brought up Tapa/Ẹgba Igunnuko.

I am also not comparing Igunnuko to anything, just explaining Tapa are a proud people that are originally from a different place and have now become what they are in Yorubaland. The beauty of peaceful integration.

I knew people ages ago who could identify Tapa people just by their mannerisms, I doubt that this generation and the immediate previous one can.

I am almost certain I have seen Ndigbo masquerades in Lagos before, this was a long time ago though and well before Obidients started stirring the pot.

Whilst the decision to not bring the masquerade over at this point in time is a sensible one, it is my hope that things change in the future.
