A man has accused a hospital of causing his wife's death due to medical incompetence.

The grieving husband took to Instagram to narrate how his wife was booked for a cesarean section on October 29, but the events that followed ultimately resulted in her death on October 30.

She leaves behind a daughter and her newborn son.

He shared a photo of his late wife and wrote: "Island maternity took my wife's life due to incompetence and stupidity.

"My wife was scheduled for a CS on the 29th of October 2024. That morning we arrived the hospital and were booked. I made payments for everything including delivery of 2 pints of -ve O blood. She was the 3rd person booked for the day. The first 3 people stayed an average of 30 minutes in the theatre before both baby and mother where brought out.

"When it was her turn after 3 people, she was wheeled into the theatre. About 15 minutes later my son was brought out and shown to me. 12:26pm. A pretty baby boy.

"I expected my wife would be out in the next 15 but a nurse came to meet me that they needed me to source for more blood because there's fibroid in my wife's womb blocking the pathway to stitch the womb and they cut it off hence the delay. 'Cut it off'? Who asked for them to cut it off?

"They asked me to go get 2 more pints of blood (NB: this blood is not just easy to get). Luckily for me I made calls and we got the 2 pints.

"They brought her out, hooked intravenous thingies on her and stuff. A few hours ed. Nurse asked me to go get Rogham from the pharmacy.

"While I was there I got a call from my BIL that my wife was being rushed into the theatre again. On rushing back the nurse told me her tummy was swelling due to blood accumulation and they had to take her in for emergency surgery. My BIL told me my wife complained of difficulty breathing. They had already gotten my BIL to sign a form for complete removal of her uterus.
"After more than 30 minutes she was brought out and wheeled to the ICU where she struggled for her life. I had to rally for 4 more pints of blood which included renting the hospital ambulance all the way to gbagada and then yaba to get blood plasma then getting 4 more pints of blood ( they even had to use o+ blood) from wherever we could get from.

"3:00am She was on the 7th pint when she went into cardiac arrest and never made it back.

"My wife died due to the hospitals incompetence because I they had informed me about carrying out a fibroid operation with CS I would have told them not to.

"I need lawyers who are willing to help us on a litigation against this hospital."

As the person above suggested, no amount of suing or litigation can bring back the dead.

Count your losses and move on. Sorry, I know it's easier said than done.

Leave this shithole if you can, for sake of your son.

R.I.P to the dead.

Edit 3:11pm
Una don cook me today o. 😂
Oya sorry o, I was wrong.
Cases like this should not be neglected for the sake of future reoccurrence.
He should carry on with the litigation.

Make nobody quote me again o.
For the sake of my menral health. 💅🏽

Leave everything for God? He should also leave reproduction and money-making for God. Christians nowadays are too docile and that is why the religion is fading.

He should press on with the litigation, to ensure the hospital never repeats that with another person's wife.

Does the man mean if the hospital had requested from him to cut her wife fibroid he wouldn't have permitted them to go ahead.

And moreover, does removing fibroid from one's body requires permission again and was the husband a doctor to determine if it is best to remove the fibroid or not, and where is the part in that write up that suggested that the hospital is incompetent?

So what the man just narrated shows that the hospital tried their best to put the wife in a good condition but it was mission impossible.

I understand the man's pain, but he should take it as force majeure

This is really sad. It should be investigated. I don't believe in Social Media judgement. There's more to this.

Sad. May we and our loved one not have any health issue that will leave us at the mercy of Nigeria doctors.

A friend of mine lost his 2years old plus son to the carelessness of Nigerian doctors. When he narrated his experience to me, I couldn't just stand it.
Imagine loosing yhur loved one and someone is sitting somewhere pressing their phone and when yhu try calling them to pay proper attention to the sick, she went like" oga abeg, he is just a child, people die here every day, what do yhu want us to do?
A child that was less than 3years was under a leaking oxygen despite paying heavily for it, and yhu are angry they asked yhu to change it?

And guess what sickness the boy died from? Malaria! Wrong prescriptions by same health workers, till the sickness got so bad to the point of itting him then from there, he ed on.

If yhu see people japaying, it's not always because of money, but something like this is also one of the many reasons.

Just because yhu have seen many deaths shouldn't make life meaningless to yhu.

Condolences. CS is not an easy operation; it gets worse when the patient has complications like high bp and Fibroid. Even if you are guaranteed 4 pregnancies in CS, its never advisable to do all of them. Manage 2.

This is what you get when you marry a woman who cannot deliver naturally. Cant blame the hospital for your poor choices.

Atleast they delivered the baby.

Litigation will not bring her back but it will reduce medical negligence when they know they will be sued and get to pay heavily for their malpractices.

Nigerian doctors and nurses especially those in government hospitals are indeed replica of the devil's personality....

If you haven't been there, you wouldn't know the kinda lukewarm attitude those people have towards work whenever a patient is brought in......

Pray never to be a victim of circumstances cuz our hospitals and their personnels will quickly send you to your grave..

Rest in peace, pretty woman.

...but the craze for CS births amongst women in Nigeria today alarming?
For the four children that my wife delivered, all were through the God endowed natural birthing. In all the four occasions Kubwa General Hopital, Abuja, she never spent more than 30 minutes in the labour/delivery room and babies and mum were always coming out fine. All glory to God for these.

I ask again, why the craze for CS births amongst Nigerian women?

I doubt he will get anything meaningful from this. I was expecting to see whr the hospital neglected her or failed to give her maximum attention, hence leading to her death, but from the read, it shows they did what they ought to do including the removal of fibroid.

Doctors know better and I think they did what was right, just unfortunate it turned out sour.

If she had survived with the fibroid remaining intact, and a complication resulted in future due to that, the same doctors will be blamed for neglecting to remove something as complicated as this.

God rest her innocent soul, so sad an experience. God will comfort the husband et al.

It is not a craze, it is just that medicine is getting better at catching the women who are at risk for risky deliveries.

In the good old days before western medicine, those women would have died. (Some tradtional medicine men could do something like CS, but they were very few).
