A man has cried out for help after "Omo Onile" demolished his property in Akoto, Elebu, Oluyole Extension, Ibadan. According to him, he has lived in this area for the past 39 years and used all his life savings to build the house. He explained that despite this, the "Omo Onile" have now come forward, claiming ownership of the land and attempting to take it away from him by force. He recounted that he left home early in the morning, only to return and find his house being demolished.

The devastated man, calling for assistance, shared that he attended Government College, Ibadan, and that his father provided him with a solid education, even sending him abroad. He returned to Nigeria to settle down, only to now face this misfortune.

It is so baffling why this is such a major problem in Southern Nigeria, especially the southwest. A person will feel so entitled to what doesn't belong to them.
We are just calling them fanciful names "omonile", "agbero", "area boys", etc.. They are all criminals! If they see a way to get access to firearms, they won't hide under the cloak of omonile, but will directly attack you and take your property.

This man is in the same shoe as many thousands of property owners in Ibadan. This man is battling with invidual omonilè while the other thousands are battling with the state government which has turned itself into the act of grabbing land. You acquired land of 150m wide for Circular road after due consultations though without fufiling your part of the agreement as required by law to compensate property owners. Now, you came back in 2024 that the land that falls into the road 500m right and another 500m left about 110km in length has also be acquired as corridor for the road..... After protesting for days, they said they won't demolish house but all undeveloped lands should not be developed anymore...... What should we call this?
