Man102: Nice one for supreme Court. Hence they decided that Uzodinma must be governor, now the same Uzodinma refused to obey supreme Court judgment. |

Even though many of you can't be helped, but the needful should still happen. On the above subject: The Governors had a deal with FG for three months to enable states that are yet to conduct elections to get things sorted out. The timeline agreed on is October 31st. That is why all the states are in a rush to conduct LGA elections. Potentially, November allocations May reflect the implementation. Continue your pessimism, LGA has come to stay |

Chisave: Great points, but let's be honest, about 400m is not small money - yes, even with the current realities. Don't forget some of them get additional revenue in taxes from markets, transport garages, etc which are under their control. What judicious use, they can actually use the funds to better the lives of people. |

happney65: Some Lgs are already receiving allocations in billions.....at least I know if Lagos and Ogun state.its all about developing the economic sustainability of the Lgs....if everyone is busy, there will be money for govt to spend but the problem is many are downright unproductive and only few are that's why our economy is the way it is. Imagine states solely dependent on Faac allocation every month and some people do next to nothing just sitting in offices waiting for these monies. |

wunmi590:The FG put the cart before the horse. There should have been a proper restructuring of the LG system before that court issue. However a government of people that don't think deeply would start something without thinking it through. So they have seen that they have to put the right things in place before what they went to court for. Another problem would be that the thing would not last. The money those LGs receive will not be enough for anything because this have been tried before and it resulted in monumental oweing of salaries. The LG chairmen want it because it would enable them loot before the mistake is corrected. The solution is true federalism so that every state can implement what they can sustain. It's only few LGs that can stand on their own in the country with the way things are. |

The FG just went gaslighting and nothing less. The big question is, how would all the LCDAs survive if the allocation is paid directly to all 774 LGAs? For those that have ears to hear, FG would never pay any allocation directly to the LGA s. Know this and be at peace with yourself. FG just went on a jamboree . |

prophetfire:The main reason FG didn't pay the allocation to their s directly is because of LCDAs. This is the same allocation the state governor share among the existing LGAs and LCDAs in the state. Tinubu will not want to undo himself, as he is the brain behind the creation of LCDAs in the country. 1 Like |

Cajal:And you think the FG will comply with the judgement? Tinubu is the brain behind the creation of LCDAs and if the allocation is paid directly into LGAs s, it means that all the LCDAs in the country will not receive a dime again because they are not yet recognised constitutionally. The FG didn't think it through before instituting that suit. That was why I said we always do things anticlockwise for political reason. If allocation is paid directly to the 774 LGAs, then, the LCDAs will be impoverished, as there will be no allocation for them, except the IGR generated within their area or governor's tips to them from state allocation. That suit was ill informed and the judgement itself was a kangaroo one, as there is no such in our constitution. No party of the constitution says allocation should be paid into LGAs s. No part, no section and no subsection. |

Man102: Are you in Nigeria all? How can you call yourself a journalist and claim you don't know the implementation was postponed so that local Government election can hold? |
mfm04622: 1:21pm On Oct 19, 2024 |
IfnobeGod20: The LCDAs will have to be disbanded immediately. For example, Lagos State has said elections will only hold for LGs, not LCDAs. |
