Good move, NNPC is one of the most corrupt organizations on the surface of the earth after FIFA. That said, FG should at least subsidize 25% of the cost now that we transact in Naira. Its hard to see how else Prices would drop if Dangote is the sole supplier of crude in Nigeria. Thats a huge monopoly to have. Yes, other refineries might suddenly start to resume operations, infact i m sure PH refinery would start to work now that NNPL dont have money to share, FG still need regulate the cost of energy in Nigeria, they just cant hands off, its dangerous.

We are on our way to a fully deregulated market. Running and managing it well will lead to competition and efficiency in the long run. It would eliminate the racketeers whose daily income is from arbitraging and pouting rental costs on Nigerina through petroleum products import. Let Dangote continue. His intrusion into the market has begun to yield fruits. 1 Like |

Why is Dangote finding it so difficult to announce the cost of his petrol, just as he did with diesel and aviation fuel? Bytheway, I suggest the government owned refineries should be put up for sales ASAP to private investors so we can eventually have some competition in the market. udemzyudex: Go back and read the story again. |

lexy2014:that literally means it has been fully deregulated. Marketers can directly buy any retailers of their choice be it dangote or imported instead of nnpc that is owned by government that is telling them the price they have to sell to consumers. 1 Like |

The recent changes in fuel distribution signal a shift in Nigeria's petroleum sector, particularly with the Dangote Refinery. The Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, said that NNPC is no longer the exclusive off-taker of Dangote Refinery products, allowing for a more competitive and deregulated market. This follows the Federal Executive Council's directive to use naira for crude oil sales and local distribution. Now, petroleum marketers can purchase fuel directly from refineries under negotiated , bying NNPC. This competition is expected to enhance market efficiency and benefit consumers through improved pricing and availability. The government's goal is to create a fully deregulated market for all petroleum products, boosting local production and reducing reliance on foreign imports. |

But why did NNPC change price to punish people more?Hope the marketers will sell below NNPC price

CHAQUR: 3:10pm On Oct 11, 2024 |
After fixing the price...? Where are the local sellers (competitors to the Dangerous Dangote). Government should allow other refineries work. Note: I wanted to type Dangote but auto correct / complete brought dangerous & I let it be. |
