Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers says the local government election slated for Oct. 5 will produce a new political structure that is people-oriented in the state.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nelson Chukwudi, quoted Fubara as saying this when he received of ‘The Simplicity Movement’ in Government House, Port Harcourt on Tuesday.


The group was led by Chief Sobomabo Jackrich, a candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) in the 2023 gubernatorial election.

Responding to the level of public demonstrated by the group, the governor promised to continue to defend the integrity of the state in the face of ongoing political challenges.

“We must defend the dignity of our state, we must ensure that the commonwealth of this state belongs to everyone.

”This is the reason for our slogan ‘Rivers First’.

‘We believe that if we put the interest of the state above personal gains, we would have addressed the challenges associated with crime, hunger and unemployment,” the governor said.

He urged the electorate to freely participate in the election.

The governor also said that the election when concluded would help his istration chart the second phase of its struggle.

Fubara hasn't added a pin in the whole of Port Harcourt since Wike left. I might not say of other LGAs. The only thing Fubara has added is the return of Keke and Okada to previously forbidden routes to them. Keke and Okada now are everywhere on major Port Harcourt roads where they were banned from operating.

If you are on ground you will even notice the snail like pace of the Ring Road and so called trans-kalabari road he claims to be building, when wike was governor, projects were done swiftly, what do you expect from fubara who is using projects as avenue to siphon funds? Off course the construction companies won't be steadfast in their jobs.
