The other campuses are located at Ndele in Emohua Local Government Area and St. John’s Diobu in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State. The institution which is the second University of Education in Nigeria started as a College of Education in June 1971 and was d to the University of Ibadan.


It is noteworthy that of all the Colleges of Education d with the University of Ibadan, the then Rivers State College of Education was the only one that offered the Bachelor of Education degree programme.

Following the age of the University of Education Law No. 8 of 2009 by the Rivers State House of Assembly on 15 October 2009, the institution was again upgraded to a University, and currently has seven Faculties. They are the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education.

Consequent upon the approval of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Governor of Rivers State and Visitor to Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, the institution is requesting applications from suitably qualified candidates for massive recruitment for multiple job openings in the Teaching and Non-teaching Staff positions.
