Hey š¤
1. The success rate for Emergency F1-VISA appointment is 90% ov.100 for all international students but only If they follow the laid down procedures , and they are first-timers.
2. Yes. It is always honoured (if you follow the rules). I don't think there is any travel section (worldwide) that match the population of international students that must resume into USA institutions yearly. Its a bigger contribution to USA economies and human resources.
3. Abuja, and Lagos are guided by same rules. Well , it is believed (not official record) that Lagos population of F1-VISA seekers is higher than those of Abuja but i don't believe in the notion.
Best Wishes š
Good Morning all
Can anyone kindly confirm if the Embassy is currently working even with the protest going on the country.
Thank you in advanceā¦..

You can't do anything about what you can see on that page. You have to wait to be approved to book an appointment.
Maybe you can use the "provide " section to raise a ticket and see if a speedy resolution can come from there.

Well, maybe I should just diss the idea over all and try some other countries. Thanks
Did he withdraw the funding because he thought you were not coming? Have you tried reaching out to your graduate program director?

Please house, can i pay both the SEVIS fee and US Visa fee with a domiciliary ATM card?
You can use the pay4me app to make both payments conveniently. Their processing speed is top notch. Takes 24 hours to process.

If the question is if the Consulate in Lagos or Embassy in Abuja are still doing interviews, the answer is yes.
I know someone who went in for an interview in Abuja today.
If the Embassy/Consulate will be stopping interviews due to any protest, they will always share the news on their website ( https://ng.usembassy.gov/) and on their social media pages (especially Twitter/X) - https://x.com/usinnigeria?lang=en

Please get on the plane to the US, you might not know what is over here for you until you get in, you can reach out to professors right there instead of sending emails. Don't keep wasting your chances. You are one lucky fellow.

Good evening yall . I was supposed to be travelling this Fall after obtaining my F-1 visa since April. Unfortunately, the fund I was supposed to be working with was withdrawn from my PI. I could no longer proceed as I donāt want to go and constitute nuisance in the US (I donāt have money to sponsor myself). Note that this is my second time of not being able to use an F-1 visa as I couldnāt use the first one issued in January cuz I was sick and hospitalized completely.
I just want an honest opinion as Iām about to give up completely on US Schools...how do you all feel about this? I wish to apply for another ission and proceed to get a new visa..do you think the VO will think Iām not serious? What do you feel about this? If you were the VO, will you take this kind of person seriously?

Hello,
1. You don't need to complete your NYSC before applying for MSc in the US.
2. Yes, you might get ission into an institution, but you might have challenges during the visa interview because there is no career progression. You don't have relevant experience in cyber security or a degree in computer science.
Would taking a Cyber Security professional certificate course help demonstrate a clear career progression from my Chemical Engineering background? Since Chemical Engineering is a STEM course, I already possess some relevant skills, including a semester of Python programming.

Chemical Engineering in the US I am familiar with is very coding heavy - so Iād assume you will be able to show progress with that alone.

Honestly, your case looks spiritual. First you were sick, now funding withdrawn. A clear case of failure at the edge of breakthrough. I will advise that you take some days to fast and pray let God speak to you. Even if you try another country, a new problem might still spring up.
Secondly, If it were me, I will still go. God works with our faith. Didn't you make friends the first time you were there? People that can link you up with under the table jobs? At least to pay your rent and feed while you try to find a solution.
How does God speak to you about engaging in clearly illegal activities?
While God does work with faith... that isn't the case here. It is not faith to lie about having enough funds to study, then proceed to the US and get stranded, looking for illegal loopholes to stay afloat. That same God also said: Luke 14:28,29 āFor which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him.ā

I'm preparing for U.S. F1 visa interview but just discovered that the title of my intended program of study on my Acceptance Letter is different from the title of the same program on my I-20. Though I filled the program title on my DS-160 exactly the way it appears on my I-20 form.
Now my question; If asked at the interview window "What program are you going to study?" Should I mention the one on my Acceptance Letter or the one on I-20(the one on I-20 is the same with DS-160)?

So I am pretty sure that we have exchanged posts here but you used a different name.
Showing up to apply for a third F-1 visa without using the previous two F-1 visas is never a good look. You will invite more unnecessary scrutiny to your application. Excuses like you were ill may no longer be tenable, especially if you change schools like I think you did in your post from earlier this year. You will appear like someone who does not know what they want to do academically.
If you already have a valid F1 visa, why do you do not need to apply for a new visa to start in Spring 2025? People change schools after receiving visas without any issues, before and after classes start, without having to reapply for a visa. Clarify this with your DSO before applying for a new visa.
I am not sure what the issue is if you now claim to have a TA that will cover your funding in Spring 25. Or is that you want a research-based assistantship and not a TA because you are more interested in conducting your PhD research? If this is so, this is ultimately a personal decision that you have to make.

Hey š¤ ** The title on your Acceptance letter is your Host-Institution's name for your program. While the title on your Form-I20 is USA government acceptable name for your program. 1. You can quote either of the major descriptions, but the appropriate one to quote in the case of accuracy is the one you have quoted (Form-I20). 2. Some USA institutions usually have another name or coined-name for their programs, eg Bsc Political Science to Bsc Government & Humanities. Hence, the USA government mandated all SEVP-approved institutions to follow a code system called " The Classification of Instructional Program CIP, in order to be able to track the exact field of your study. 3. Ipso facto, most of the time , the University's name for your major is not printed on the Form-I20, so , the major you are seeing is in accordance with government CIP CODE which the USA consular can understand, as well as all other institutions in the USA (in the case of credit or SEVIS transfer).Best Wishes š

If you are changing school (which is true in my case), youāll need a new F-1 visa especially with the SEVIS 5 month rule
The professor who input the funding I got a visa with in school A lost his NSF application and he only told me in June after I already got my visa in April. I should have risked it and travelled but Iām scared Iāll just be left stranded after Iāve reached out to other professors who claimed they didnāt have funding. Since I got a new offers for Spring 2025, I just reached out to the grad coordinator that TA offer will be better, rather than RA, which is fine.
Right now it seems going to the embassy again will just be a waste of time.
Thank you
