The constitution is clear and any interpretation that contradicts the clear letter of the law is an usurpation of power from the legislature by the supreme court.

The judiciary should interpret the law and not make laws. If we are dissatisfied with the current laws, then the constitution and/or laws should be amended by the legislature.

Kudos to the Supreme Court for this landmark judgement. Only rogue governors and former governors will be against the judgement. Local Government should not to tied to the apron spring of the governors. We've seen how rogue governors like Peter Obi ruled for 8 years without conducting local government election. They collect every single kobo belonging to the LGAs and then set up a useless transition committee that are un-elected and then give them peanut to operate. LGs are not indepedent from the states. The constitution puts them under the istration of the states. Go and read section 7 very well.
That does not mean you can't hold them able BUT they are under the istration of the state.

You don't get it, almost all the states in Nigeria don't elect LG chairmen, they appoint and oversee everything, now if they refuse to elect, the percentage that should go to LG will remain with federal and because federal owns the federal will control who gets elected.

It's not that the Governors in Nigeria are not aware that they are illegally doing the Wrong things,with the Local Govt Funds being highjacked but like so many Other -Illegalities, Unfair and Injustice,they think,it's going to continue for ever.
•The Supreme Court - should take a defiance Position on any Governor in Nigeria that violated this Law, should be removed from Office.
That is the ONLY measure to set a blunt messages to the Governors.
•The Local Governments too, should be Transparent and able to the Grassroots at all times- by rendering the s of Money and Resources at their disposal,promptly and reduce tensions between it and the State governments.

You are one of the few smart persons here. The Judiciary has been bought off for peanuts by the Tinubu , the plan is to put a financial stranglehold on the state governors starting with Rivers state, but this will fail.
The constitution on this matter is as clear as day light. This also goes further to show that most of the rulings by the apex court were already decided behind closed doors.
