Ebonyi Set To Float Own Airline, Procure 4 Aircraft

Ebonyi State commissioner for aviation and Transport Technology, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu, yesterday said the state government had concluded plans to purchase four aircraft for the smooth take-off of the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport in Onueke, Ezza South local government area of the state.

Mrs. Obichukwu who announced the plan during an inspection tour of the completed 3.5 kilometer runway said the government would float its airline with the four aircraft.

She said other investors had already indicated interest to give the state extra three aircraft, adding that the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport would not just boost the economic base of the state but also showcase Ebonyi State to the world.

“We will soon start floating our aircraft. When flight operations starts at the airport, we have investors that are ready to give us extra three planes. We have already entered into agreement with them, and very soon it will start happening.

“Permit me to announce to you that the governor, Francis Nwifuru, is very ionate about bringing in our own planes. And we are launching four at a time and when it comes, everybody will hear it. The governor wants to make this airport the economic hub of the Southeast region,” she said.

She expressed joy on the completion of the runway adding that the commercial operation of the International Airport is expected to take off in August this year with President Bola Tinubu flying into the State through the newly completed Airport.

It's a welcome development if they intend to run the airline as a business just like Ibom air, but they should know that nobody is flying into or out of Ebonyi...

It seems the leaders have vowed not to do anything that will directly benefit the public?
Why not use the available resources in the state to create industries?
What activities is happening in the state that will make people to travel with air?
I just feel most times, these men get kick backs from these kind of white elephant projects.
Instead of leaders to do project that will equip the youths , they will rather use the money to buy irrelevant things such as SUV for religious leaders and some youths without any single atom of brain with say they are doing well.
Most blacks are just disgracing the human race.

Why can't these politicians consult properly?
Ebonyi has fertile land, and Nigerians are experiencing difficulty in feeding. For a government that knows it's onions, now is the best time to invest in agriculture.
Investment in agriculture will provide massive employment to the citizens of this country.

Probably not just for Ebonyi state. Lagos to Abuja alone has enough traffic. They do no necessary focus on their state. Think!

READ READ READ!!

They want to buy the planes to make Ebonyi airport to work. Go and read the post.
They will make Ebonyi the economic hub of southeast because of only 4 planes, that's their plan.

Fact is that Ebonyi airport is a white elephant project.

If Ebonyi traffic is profitable, many airlines would have started landing and taking off there.

This Nwifuru man is turning out absolute disappointment. He should stop investing more money in the Airport and find something else to do with the funds. I thought his major focus would have been investments in human capital development. Most Ebonyi natives know their priority and they have been outspoken about it but every successive Governor does what he likes and not what the people want.

Ebonyi State governors are more interested in proving a point instead of getting into the real business of governance. I wish them the best!

That ibom air is the one of the greatest milestone for a state on transportation but it didnt get enough publicity except one intercity railway for a city which took 20 something years to complete...
