I pity some state civil servants sha. With the way these governors are talking, you would think most of them even fulfilled the previous #30k minimum wage agreement. Mtchew.

Some states, as we speak, still have months of salary backlog they are yet to pay.

Regional government will solve this kind of mess. The funny thing is that the state workers being owed months of salaries won't drag their governors but will still face the FG. Same with the NLC - they only strike when they have issues to iron with the FG. But in many state chapters, they remain docile while the governors continue to give it to their workers in the ass.
Alex Otti of Abia has not paid minimum wages of 30k, how would he be able to pay 70k.
And the guy is over hyped everywhere on social media for construction of just road that is not up to 50km.
Some of them are even trolling Seyi Makinde of Oyo state for showing case 76.5km road he constructed.
They want to teach other region good governance, meanwhile their region is rotten. May God safe them from hypocracy of highest order

All these is as a result of increase in fuel price. Reduce the fuel price and nobody will complain about 70k per month

It is not proper for the governors to be saying this when the FG and labour are still on the negotiating table.

Most governors are the problems of this country, all they do is just loot and do nothing, they can't pay 100k but they can loot far more than that, the federal government should compel them to pay or starts sending them to jail for looting, we cannot continue like this as a country

I've been hearing about ghost workers since I was a child and am asking if they don't die.

Most Governor can afford the minimum wage even above 100k, but maybe disturbed by the number of ghosts they're paying.

NLC & TUC strike maybe inexcusable because of Governor's expensive lifestyle. Imagine flying private jets they couldn't afford before swearing in.

Local Government Election in Nigeria is a forlorn hope because of Governor's rascality with state funds.

The governor should have been part and parcel of this negotiation from the onset

They combinely have far more workers than the federal government

They are jokers. If FG fails below 100k let the strike resume since that's the language they understand.

A source at the meeting said: “After deliberation on the minimum wage, we decided to consider options between N60,000 and N70,000 a month.
A source grin grin
I already told you guys that 70k will be offered. The Nation is already preparing your minds.
I wonder what all the fuss was all about instead of going straight to the point.

Fine.

All political office holders, elected and appointed, should earn minimum wage as applicable to thier tier and state.

National Assembly should earn the minimum wage of thier states too.

Trust Sanwo Olu to pay above 100k. Lagos sets the pace.

Because on a state level Lagos has the capacity to. Infact Lagos can afford to pay a minimum wage of 250K sustainably.

The financial capacity of Lagos is the highest in Nigeria West Africa

Then let the strike continue

This governors are very wicked

The federal government should pay N100,000 for a minimum wage to federal workers and make it a law that no state should pay below N85,000 minimum wage
The law actually states that no state can pay less than 80% of the minimum wage set by the federal government. But Nigeria law doesn't exist

Governors cant pay 70k minimum but they can loot and launder millions abroad! They can have n pay numerous aides which are not needed at there respective government houses! They can pay for there children's school fees abroad and allocated huge figures to there first lady's!
Even at the 70k being propose, i hope they will be able to pay at as when due and not owe workers......

Don't mind them. Some of them were still gifting naira and dollars to Saudi pilgrims, e.g. Rivers & Lagos, but when it comes to paying 100k wage, they can't afford it.

Any Governor that can't pay above 70k should leave the office simple! You can't pay above 70k yet you lavish money around and your jobless children spend way above 100k in a twinkle of an eye steadily

Why tackle the guy for his comments? He simply used it as a yardstick and every sane and educated Nigerian can agree with his point of view.

A bag of rice isn't even the only thing that has gotten expensive; general cost of living has tripled in the last 1 year!

Whenever minimum wage is discussed the problem is not Federal government not being able to pay. The problem is with the state governors. They are the real bottleneck whenever minimum wage is under consideration. Not all of them paid the palliatives as of today and were all hiding behind the states are under debt yet increase minimum wage complain has stated already without agreement to implement it grin grin grin
