Thanks for asking big man. I experienced a $3.7 DD on the since 22nd of April. I only traded it once since then.. I abandoned it because I was desperately in need of money which I know will lead to poor decision making and forcing of trades so I had to look for my money elsewhere. The balance stood at $17 as we speak and I ll resume trading it when I'm out of this financial DD. Sometimes we need that real life money as backup to stay confident and discipline.

I would say get a prop acct if you then fund live and also how long have you been on the chart and what your strategy, your entry criteria

As a beginner though I have been practising and learning using demo is getting a prop advisable?

If you want a personal acct with a broker, then get one.

Sign up for octafx, FBS, hotforex, exness, deriv and get demo s with them

On the demo accts, check the conditions for trading indices on each of them - contract specifications for indices depends on your broker and this in turn affects the risk carried by your trade.

You can check contract size and minimal volume by clicking on properties of the pair you are trading.

Take limit orders on the demo s on mt5 and see the risk involved with each trade.

Also, trade the news on this demo acct, especially I and NFP.

This will enable you to know if your broker has slippage and how bad the slippage is.

After testing all of these, you can come back and ask people about funding personal accts on the broker and how swift the payment is.

Left to me, I won't even use any of the Nigerian brokers. But since you're starting anew, you can go with any one of them, exness, hotforex etc. Most of them are the same with little differences separating them.

Just try to know what type of you will be opening with them, for example, for a swing trader, you will need swap free . Etc. All the best bro.

Asking this question means there is a lot of information you don't understand like overnight spread or slippage or commission or correlation.

Charts are the same everywhere.

This move occured late so I couldn't call it here, well the update is after yesterday debacle of all trades running to TP after closing at 6pm I do close my trades. It's been happening for long now, though some seemed like a better option because after closing they started reversing.

But the disadvantages has dwarfed the advantages. So I had to reanalyze and came up with the idea of closing latest @8pm everyday instead.

See this trade here, my typical trade of break of trendline + break of + retest and continuation. So I entered and market started ranging, so I was watching and the recent low was broken again, so I entered another 0.4% + the initial 1% of the first entry in search of continuation. Then it was almost 6pm, price was a little below entry, while the second trade was in small loss, and the first one in small profit too.

The anticipated fall happened at 7pm and the two are currently floating in profits. It's a Friday, and I wanna go have some fun, so I'm closing these trades even though it's not 8pm yet. I make use of a router, and I can't go out with it because of the size. So I had to close it or wait at home till 8pm, I chose the former.


The main reason why I'm writing this is, we need to be mindful of what we read. They become some part of us. How do I come up with closing trades at 6pm Nigerian time? I read somewhere on nairaland here when the name said after six pm, one shouldn't expect any big moves again and that thing stuck with me without me even knowing.

That's why I try to shut my eyes out when it comes to learning new stuffs sometimes in this line, especially in this forex world. So many good contents and bad gibberish in circulation at the same time.
Did an introspection yesterday why I was rigid with closing my trades at 6pm and I ed where I read it from and it shaped how I think and approach the market.

The same way I was misled when I ed newly last year, all I wanted to do then was to swing, because my supposed nairaland mentors were all swing traders, and they painted Day trading bad, not to talk of Scalping. Na wa o.

May God let us find our niche on time, normal normal, we no suppose dey use 6years+ dey find our way around this, we just haven't found our best and optimum method. Hopefully we all find it soon.
