Bolt has recently laid off nearly half of its staff in Nigeria, a move that has sparked both concern and debate about the future of the company in the country. This drastic measure is part of Bolt’s global restructuring efforts aimed at cutting costs and improving efficiency.

The layoffs, which affected 22 out of 45 staff , including senior management, are a significant blow to the company’s operations in Nigeria. This is particularly concerning given the already challenging business environment in the country, where high fuel prices and maintenance costs are major hurdles for ride-hailing companies.

While the decision to cut costs is understandable, it raises questions about the long-term viability of Bolt’s operations in Nigeria. The company’s commitment to the Nigerian market, which has seen over 250 million rides since its inception in 2016, is now being tested. The recent layoffs may lead to a decline in the quality of service offered by Bolt, which could negatively impact its reputation and customer base.

Moreover, the layoffs may also have a ripple effect on the broader economy, as many of the affected employees will struggle to find new employment in a competitive job market. This could lead to increased unemployment rates and further economic instability.

But Nigerians hate each other.
I cannot see any reason why all the tech savy youth graduating left and right
showing all their coding and computer skills everywhere, could not come together to create this app,
and maintain it.

But NO!
Because of our hatred for each other, we have to sit down and wait once more
for WHITE MAN to create the app and use us to make his money.
The only thing our Nigerian youth know very well is how to clone SIM card and withdraw somebody's money
from all his s.

I laud every and any company still faring well in this Nigerian economic climate.

I don't know much about business, but it can't be easy to thrive in this hectic and corrupt atmosphere with highly diminished purchasing power among citizens.

The moment purchasing power declines among the major market of any business environment, most small and medium scale businesses will suffer and even die... Same with large scale enterprises.

Omo... The future of commerce in Nigeria is not looking good. Sigh.

The economy is fvcked, the only reason banks are not sacking like during Jonathan's tenure is because they have deviced different means (especially through FX, hidden charges and laundering) to make dirty money to pay salary while avoiding prosecution.

By the time Tinubu is done, the EFCC chairman after would expose the rot that diaper-wearing retard has done.

RN the citizens don't even know if he's alive or dead.

As money no dey enter again na, I was at a meeting last year in lagos, where I met the Bolt regional director(i think she's from Kenya), she said a lot of drivers are using their platform to get angers then they'll go offline, I told her that she should reduce bolt's commission.

if not with the price of fuel alot of drivers like myself will have no other option than to leave their platform, she said they can't reduce the commission, I gave another alternative, increase the price fare in areas like Abuja, Rivers and ilorin, because to me bolt is only lucrative in lagos, she said they've increased the amount enough, she Sha speak one oyibo wey I know understand....

Now alot of drivers have left d platform, we can't be driving to pay commission and buy fuel at d end of d day nothing person go carry go huz and u go still collect insults from rude angers again grin
