Even the silly 'arresters' go dey try cross very busy 'express' when off-duty, only for Ogun to jam dem.
The same sets of human 'beans' would obediently use pedestrian bridges in cities outside the shores of Nigeria/Africa.

The second picture, though... E con be like say the officer dey ready to ister standing doggy. 🙃😋

This has been one of the major corrective measures in Lagos ,though harsh but very effective, after you visit that mobile court and pay the bail you will not take the risk of crossing for your own safety but use the pedestrian bridge

Wow.

I had an unforgettable experience being harassed and extorted by a touts in 2003 for not using a pedestrian bridge in CMS. I'd heard about how people get arrested for not using it where it's available and won't deliberately want to ignore the bridge if I found one but on that occasion I was on pressure and didn't notice the bridge which was just beside me. I was having a runny stomach and needed to ease myself urgently. I was at a bus stop and didn't originally have plans or need to cross the road as I was just supposed to board another bus to Lagos Island. I asked someone around at the bus stop if there's a public toilet around and the person pointed at it and it was across the street almost directly opposite me. And in my subconscious I noticed other people crossing back and forth without issues so it was like a confirmation that there's no pedestrian bridge close by. But immediately I got to the other-side I got into the waiting hands of two touts who showed me IDs and claimed to be from the task force enforcing the use of the pedestrian crossing. And I argued that there's no one close by and the pointed behind me and behold there was a pedestrian crossing just beside where I had stood before crossing the road. Then I looked to see the other people that were crossing who were not being harassed and now realized that they were street hawkers who were running after cars to sell their wares (obviously, these ones were above this law).

I was dumbfounded and frustrated. I'm still pressed and needed to relieve myself quickly. I begged them to let me use the toilet 1st then we can talk but they won't let me and insisted that I settle them before they let me go else they'll drag me to their office where I'll pay through my nose. Mehn, with the pressure to ease myself, I found myself parting with N500 or N1,000 (I can't really ).

the zeal to arrest and harass regular citizens. I dont see this same zeal being channeled to agberos who constitute more nuisance than those who dont use pedestrian bridge

is that the same way the Lagos state government is zealous towards agberos, omoniles and touts that harass and dispossess people of their belongings?

Sometimes, I just don’t understand how you people reason.

They’re talking Pineapple, you’re talking Mango.

The regular citizens you’re defending, are they insane or retarded to not abide by simple rules & regulations?

What is the essence of building Pedestrian Bridges if your average “regular citizens” cannot be trained like monkeys and circus animals to use them?

If they’re knocked down by Dangote Trucks now, you will be among the people that will curse the Government for not providing enabling infrastructures to avoid the unnecessary accidents.

they can never stop agbero in lagos. They ve lagos government backing. They also remit money to them.

Same reason they pushed Ambode out. Because he almost stopped their activities
