layover 5-6 hours
addis to London 6 hours

If hotel accommodation is not included in your ticket, one would be roaming within Bole Airport while those who have accommodation as part of their ticket would be driven to one of their nearby hotels to eat, relax and freshen up for the few hours and driven back to the airport.

I had this experience with them in 2019, they abandoned us at the airport around 11pm, had to book a hotel from my own pocket to sleep for few hours

You need to calm down. Direct flights are more expensive than layover flights.
