Very true. They want to make it look like it's the richest of the rich that'd be affected whereas probably up to 70% would be affected. I recharged yesterday night and I got less than half of what I used to get. I stay in Abuja, but not in highbrow areas like Maitama, Asoroko, Wuse, but I'm classified under their useless Band A. Imagine being classified under the same rating with people living in mansions whereas where you live, a BR flat isn't up to ₦300K.
If you're using more than 20hours power supply everyday, I don't understand why you should be complaining

What about the power plant that your governor commissioned that is giving you 24hrs power supply?…

It will take time to distribute to light to every community around Aba , some places don’t even have transformer because of thieves.

Why this disparity and categorization? Am I not expected to pay more if I'm enjoying 20 hrs of power than one getting only 6 hrs? When was prepaid meters census conducted to know which area a particular meter falls?

I stay in Aba and my feeder is probably the worst. Anyone that stays in Aba and has knowledge about the feeders should know that 33 Ukwa feeder has always been in bad shape. I can go 4-5 days with blackout and the rest 2 days can't even boast of total 8 hours of electricity.

When NERC announced that they have increased the tariff of band A from 66 naira to 225 naira, I found the announcement ridiculous. I get around 8 hours of power supply a week and my last payment around December last year was 82 naira per kwh.

This morning, I decided to check the current tariff on my meter and I saw 95.7 naira per kwh.

From my observation, the band rating is a scam. Many customers are wrongly classified. Many are even paying higher than the Band A.

Anybody on post-paid who accepts the new tarriffs, OYO ni yen. People must be metered.

I thought there was 24 hrs light in that place, according to the lying propagandists?

That being said, all electricity distribution companies should also supply prepaid meters to all their customers because I know some unscrupulous ones don't.

In fact, every state government should invest in electricity to compete with those who were handed the distribution companies after privatisation yet couldn't manage and improve on it.

There are several competent affordable renewable energy investors which state government can invest and partner with. For example Siemens investors. Or Energy China Group investors such as Jiangsu clean energy which built ossiomo for example & also Zhongyuan, and they are also good at photovoltaic energy.

There are also other competent affordable energy investors. Our electrical engineering graduates and colleges should also help in energy production.

there was an electric company before this new one and they have issue where the new power company can supply light and where not to.

Was it not aba one guy complained one time that transformer was vandalized.
And I told him that in Lagos here we fence our transformer. There is hardly a transformer unit that is not fenced here and has a cda chairman in charge.

If you have money change to solar, it will save you a lot in the long run.

The only system that is working perfectly in Nigeria is corruption

If you you afford a prepaid meter get one. If you can't suspend consumption until you can afford one. If you can go for solar, wind turbine.
Some of us are even staying close to running water we can go hydro. There's no absolute monopoly in life.

States are now being allowed to manage their own electricity

Those who have been wrongly grouped into wrong band should have spoken out before this new tariff. If you have not been using expected hours of light based on your band, then it's time to speak out

Before any area can be grouped to any band, they must have considered the maximum hours of light they would be receiving weekly, the scam mist have been from the local disco abi wetin be their name self
Speak up? Abeg you're too funny, as if anyone cares about what you're going to say in this country

Infact if anything like NEPA wire connect from pole enter your compound or house, be rest assured you will pay the new tariffs and even more, wether you get 2 minutes light or 1 hour light. We all know 10 hours light is scam talk less of 20 hours of light.
