Despite the jappa tide flowing allover, there are some people who don't have jappa in their agenda even though they are not doing well...
Some reasons may include weather, culture, food, caring for loved ones here, lack of strict laws here, etc.
They've decided to remain in their "comfort zone"...

Please my Canada work visa got denied 19th January even though it was LMIA approved job I got through an agency. Please I need advice and help of when and how to re-apply but this time using the student route. This are the reasons the officer gave:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by
paragraph 200(1)(b) of the IRPR (https://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/
section-200.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will
leave Canada, based on the following factors:
• The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the
details you have provided in your application.
• You were not able to demonstrate that you will be able to adequately perform the work you seek.
This is my first time ever applying for any visa in my life and this agency ruined my first chance because am beginning to doubt if the job was real because I submitted all they asked me to.

applying for a study visa will still raise red flags. It shows desperation and they will see through that you are not a real student. What kind of job did you get LMIA for

personal worker job
do you have experience in that job previously Apply for GCMS notes to see the actual reasons for the refusal so you can know how to tackle it. Jumping from personal ( work permit) to study visa like i said shows desperation o.

The means to leave is the biggest obstacle for most.

Currency depreciation, can't qualify for any migration/visa category, clueless about the whole process, no guidance/helper, home base responsibilities, and of course, the embassy will mostly not grant you a visa.

The Schengen visa is now very difficult to get. For example, Norway as a rule, wont grant you a visa for tourism even if you overqualify. They do not want Nigerian visitors.

So there you go, leaving Nigeria will keep becoming exceptionally difficult, and close to impossible as the days go by, unless maybe through a family route with a foreign resident/citizen.

When did Nigerians become LMIA qualified? Are Nigerians qualified to be waived for LMIA?

Those making dollars while in Nigeria have no reason to japa.

An instance is the children/close relatives of cocoa farmers and exporters. If I see any such person japa, I will ask hard questions.

Nigerians have always been qualified for LMIA. Some people on nairaland here have gotten it. The major issue is the companies giving LMIA are using it to bring in their people from Philippines, china, India. Only a handful of Nigerians have companies they can use to bring people . I met a Ghana babe in tech that came in with LMIA two years ago. Your occupation has to be scarce/indemand to even stand a chance

This is one example https://nairaland.unblockandhide.com/2103860/canada-visit-tourist-visa-discussion/853#124642870

Australia is denying Nigerians student visa because "the economic situation in the country won't allow you to return after studies".

Funny, why then do you think politicians are buying seconds citizenship for themselves and their families when they are the top 5 richest in the country.

If I had plenty of money, Nigeria wouldn't be the place I'd want to endure enjoy it.

I know that Bahrain banned entry for Nigerians before, don't know if they have reinstated it. Also the UAE.

Our free visa list have reduced to at least 30% since Buhari period. Truly, the country is gone.

When people say there is enjoyment in nigeria, it's about the communality, food, being the default, lack of civic responsibilitiee, and "freedom in chaos" such as hook up, bribery, abusing others ( eg sales girl, house boy) etc

Apart from these, I don't know exactly how Nigeria is fun. If one have adapted to their new home, it's far better fun than what's obtainable in naija

How can you enjoy a place with no light, dirty beaches that's not free, no free museum, architecture, library, etc?

And a preventable situation such as bad roads, dumb police officers and bad medical care can kill you in an instant?

Also, your money can only go far in a functioning society. It takes me about 20euros to fly from Amsterdam to the Spanish islands in Africa (Gran Canaria) , but can same amount take you from Lagos to Abuja by flight?

If I dump you in the desert with a million usd suitcase, your money becomee useless, just because the desert can't convert your cash to value.

It's the same thing with being wealthy in Nigeria. Hopefully the drugs you bought for headache is not fake. Imagine paying for your death.

So no, there is no enjoyment in a dysfunctional system. Just that human natures will adapt to bad situations and create fun in it. Just as the kids in the ghetto are having fun, but it's not good life.

Their dollars will only go far in a functioning society that can convert that dollars to a good value. Money and societal function goes hand in hand.

Thats why you check different shops before buying something. You want your money to take you far. Same rules applies with being wealthy in any country.

Imagine buying a phone for five usd in Alibaba, but because it's not made in Nigeria, after shipping, clearing, and tax, it becomes more expensive.

But a Chinese man that earns lower than you will buy it cheaper and live a far quality life just because the society can convert his little earnings to great value.

Money is not everything. Lots of times I've been broke to stupour, I was not worried because the system has a place to handle temporary brokies. But in Naija, if you fall, you may not rise again lol

But the majority of wealthy Nigerians live in Nigeria. It is actually a standard thing to do - the wealthy set of people reside in their dominant society. The purchase of second citizenship is to ease movements and offer a second option considering Nigeria's fractured state. I want to bet many wealthy Namibians don't bother buying a second citizenship. Money gives options, so wealthy people will opt for greater options.

Fair analysis. Which is why this thread exists: https://nairaland.unblockandhide.com/7496716/what-exactly-does-one-enjoy

But I am surprised, your comments have changed overtime regarding relocation and living in a place where the majority don't look like you.

P.S. We must acknowledge one thing: The majority of wealthy Nigerians live in Nigeria.

But they are not anti-japa and they will be the first to move when things become unbearable or if their home country threatens their livelihood.

Some anti-japa here will cry if you send your kids to US to study.

Leaving Nigeria doesn't have to mean leaving for the west though.

But yes, my opinions have changed. As my responsibility increased, I now come to appreciate my newly adopted country. There is just no way I can be a man without a solid system run by other strong men.

When you have dreams to pursue, a family that looks up to you, and duties you can't negotiate yourself away from, a stable, working society is a no-brainer.

And if the price to pay is being like a dark chocolate in the midst of whites, then so be it
