APC has destroyed this country kpata-kpata! Nigerians who still don’t see the abyss they’re dancing blindly into by ing incompetence should ask themselves why oil companies that have been here since before independence are all suddenly running from a supposedly oil rich nation?

Multinationals leaving our country is an advantage for the country, because now they will have to sell the entire business to Local players. These IOC’s are evil! They pillage the environment without a care in the world. They have been drilling oil for decades and sending almost all of it to the European market, then turn around and also hoard the forex accrued from the Govt, then repatriate all of that Forex to their respective countries. At least with local players, their is a chance of continuous investments on the upstream oil and gas industry, and Forex will be retained in-country. Which means more Local millionaires and billionaires created, more revenue for the Govt. More local jobs created. God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬 |

Racoon: This is FALSE. This has nothing to do with Tinubu and his policies. Producing crude oil from onshore oil rigs is the most dangerous job in the world. That's why rig workers are well paid. The news story made that clear. Besides, the Niger Delta militants, pirates and pipeline vandals have made such businesses tough too. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Offshore work is safer and they keep all the profit. The boys on the ground know how to vandalize pipes and refine crude. They pollute the environment and then cry foul that the companies are the culprits. Every affair on the high seas can be kept hush hush. In case of pollution, workers can be threatened with their jobs not to expose the mess. Trust me, the men working in the field will keep quiet so far their immediate families are not affected.

It is well The exit of the IoCs started during Buhari era and its not new. If i was the CEO of any of this entities, i'd have sold off a long time ago. 1. These guys pay 85% Petroleum profit tax. 2. They pay 3% NDDC levy on their budget 3. Add another 3% Host Community development fund 4. NCDMB levy, education tax and myriads of others. 5. Yet they have to still provide jobs to indigenes, communty contracts, scholarships, contractor entry fees and all sort of gifts to keep communities at peace. 6. The government is still unable to secure their multimillion dollar assets. So they need hire Community security forces to combat pipeline vandalism, oil spillage, oil theft etc. 7. The same people busting the pipelines turn around and sue them for oil spillage in millions of dollars. These fines doesnt trickle down to the people thatbare really impacted. 8. When will we seat down and ask our leaders what they are doing with the royalties, taxes, fines and levies paid by these IoCs during their stay here? Lets see how you'll take a local oil companybto US to sue. Good luck trying to sue them in nigeria either. Dont forget, we sold the power sector to nigerians. We are all "enjoying" the benefit of that decision today |

forgiveness: What you said is not true. They are actually interested in the HSE of the area. The issue here is that it is becoming heavily expensive for them to continue in onshore business because of the restiveness of the area the excessive taxation from state and local government agencies, the vandalism of their infrastructure and community issues. The statement is just them being political as usual. 2 Likes 1 Share |

TINUBU WILL RUN AND LEAVE THAT PRESIDENCY HE STOLE VERY SOON. NAIRA WILL NOT ONLY REACH 2000 TO 1 DOLLARS BUT 5000 TO 1 DOLLARS. NO INVESTMENTS AND THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN HERE FOR DECADES ARE LEAVING AND LEAVING FAST. |

kasie1: No, there's nothing unfortunate about it. ![]() That decision will save lives. Drilling crude oil and gas in the middle of water is the most dangerous job in the world. That's partly why oil workers are paid handsomely. If they experience fire outbreak, workers rarely make it alive. That's why they go for safety training and follow strict HSE guidelines. TotalEnergies has made a good decision. They are not leaving Nigeria. They will sell off their onshore rigs and divest in Nigeria's gas sector. The money stays in Nigeria, more jobs are created and people don't have to lose their loved ones because they are working risky oil jobs. Once again, it's a great decision! Those who think they can deal with the inherent risks should buy the onshore equipment and continue prospecting for onshore crude oil. 3 Likes 1 Share |

forgiveness: You take like a child. The only reason the French want out is because business is no longer profitable. Mind you, Totalenergies continue to operate in countries with tougher environmental laws than Nigeria. For businesses, it only boils down to profit. You should be asking, what is making the Nigerian business environment unprofitable and not trying to defend the indefensible. 4 Likes |

No Nigerian leader has sought wisdom to see that these Multinationals would want to exit oil and probably move to gas....? This is where leadership should be hinged...... They will still take us down the colonial path with gas with the help of the very useless and unfortunate people of the land It's that bad. We really have an opportunity here, but the leadership is weak and lack wisdom |

Expect more youth to feel suicidal, expect a lot of women getting banged to be rebanged and dumped by big boys. Because of their selfish interest to marry a rich man.
