Some people are so desperate to see Nigeria fail so they can get their desired secession that they lose their common sense. See them celebrating the purchase of US crude by the Dangote Refinery as a failure of the refinery and the NNPCL.

Nigeria's crude oil cargoes have already been contracted far into the future. And we have a quota from OPEC. This is not new. When then President Obasanjo and Yar'adua introduced the National Integrated Power Project, the NNPC could not supply the NIPP gas because Nigeria's gas had already been purchased in future contracts far into the future. And if you break those contracts, Nigeria would be taken to arbitration. That is why the Dangote Refinery is buying crude from America. Because it is a private company that will get its supply from anywhere it can to meet its own set targets and timelines.

The same America also buys crude oil from Mexico, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Iraq. It is business. You buy from anywhere you can get your raw materials. That does not mean the NNPCL or the Dangote Refinery has failed. But it certainly means that your own senses have failed BIG TIME!!!

Exactly. His oil and energy traders would be the ones negotiating best deals for the refinery.

Hmm...

This should only come as a surprise to people who think this refinery would have any real impact on Nigeria's economic progress anyway.

Reno Omonkey, speaking from both sides of the mouth.

The clown said we should stop patronizing mtn. But he wants Dangote to use dollars to import crude oil.

The olodo wants everyone to use globacom but he doesn't want Dangote to use only Nigeria crude oil.

Is this not enough reason to be worried?

Who and who ate into future and still left us with trillions of debt to pay.

An OPEC member and the 6th largest oil producer in the world shouldn't be buying a refined product when it has no refinery, only to start buying crude now that it has a refinery. This doesn't make a slightest sense. Stop crude oil theft/bunkering and Dangote refinery will have more than it needs.

Well, that’s your choice. But those he referred to are actually in existence. If you don’t see them, others do.

Reno: Dangote Refinery bought US crude because Nigeria's crude has been purchased far into the future.

Still Reno: Dangote Refinery can purchase its crude from anywhere because it is a private establishment.

Why the fuss if it was never really meant to be a Nigerian thing then but just a private show?

Factos: Dangote will import crude with dollar purchased at N800 - N900. Local man will import for their businesses with dollar purchased at N1500. But local man should spend more time shinning teeth for every Dangote news that emerges.

That's if it's actually crude that is being imported

Nigeria is paying for money it borrowed with crude oil.

And yet we can't feel the impact of the borrowed money in the country.

Isn't that enough reason to be concerned?

Reno is an idiot. One minute the naira is falling because we don't patronise glo, the next minute dangote has right to buy American crude. As if dangote is not paying for American crude with scarce dollars. If Dangote has the right to buy any crude, Nigerians have the right to use any network and purchase foreign goods. Both have the same effect on the naira

We keep hearing they have sold Nigeria crude well into the future. This is vague and absolute rubbish. Tell us who sold it, at what price, what quantity, which future... is it till 2030. What did they do with the money.

Reno talks too much, it's not every trend you must jump on.

And to the topic, I think Dangote and NNPCL has failed Nigerians. The only reason we were celebrating the refinery wasn't for reduction of the price of the products, it was because there will be a reduction in the demand for forex.

Now, Dangote is sourcing for forex to import crude oil from USA, why won't Dollar be 2000 per naira

If I hear well;

"Nigeria's crude oil cargoes have already been contracted far into the future. "

The government must have entered into such contract because they know we can't have a working refinery in the country. But which government signed such hopeless contract? I want check something
