Buhari Foresaw What Would Happen To The Naira And The Economy If He Devalued (20174 Views)

Emusan:Look, Good luck Jonathan istration was the most corrupt after Abacha in the history of Nigeria; God is a witness. Nigeria could have turn to small London during that istration with the amount of dollars made out of excess crude , additionally substantial Abacha loot was released to that istration. Sad to realise how greedy and corrupt politician looted huge money in dollars to personal and some even kept money in underground and inside water tanks. Till today many of the governors and politicians who escaped EFCC arrest have not spent one third of their loot. 3 Likes |

ingShot: That guy is actually right. in 2011 that Gej won, Dollar was a about 155/$ In 2015 before he left, it was about 214/$. Buhari left it around 750/$, if you check the percentage, you would see Gej performed better. If you it Buhari performed, that means Gej was a blessing. Let's be sincere sha. 2 Likes |

The problem with Tinubu is that he has never really done struggling business in his life so he doesn't understand microeconomics and the demerits of absolute capitalism in an informal and subsistence economy. The World Bank deals with ideal economic theory which has failed in 95% of countries applied. Buhari tried in managing Nigerian economy well despite having the most daring challenge since 1999 in COVID-19.

ingShot: Firstly let me state that I am a fan of Buhari. I didnt vote for him precisely because i was around when he was head of state and I knew he has no clue on the economy and the anti-corruption war cannot be won when you consider those who brought him to power....I didnt vote for Jonathan either. Now this video is revisionist. Buhari was short term in his thinking and instead created a bigger long term problem. We are where we are because he did not do the needful. If he had floated the currency, we wouldnt have borrowed so much during his tenure. Buhari a former petroleum minister, spent almost $10b a year on subsidy for 8 years and failed to build a single refinery. I am a fan of Buhari, despite his flaws, no other president has left behind the infrastructure he did but his myopia on the economy is the same myopia he exhibited in 1983. the problem we are facing now is because Buhari did not float the Naira, remove subsidies and build a single refinery in 8 years in office. If he had we would have endured the pain and the pain would be over now. 2 Likes |

ZombidiotFools: Buhari failed on the economy...ther is no argument on that but he left lasting infrastructure that your grandchildren will use. Ok so currency was relatively stable under GEJ but please tell me after you enjoyed 8 years of stable currency what do you have to show for it that you can enjoy today or that your children can enjoy tommow? Enduring legacy is the true hallmark of a good leader, not how I enjoyed for 8 years but what did you leave for me to enjoy after you leave office? 1 Like |

ZombidiotFools: Lagos Ibadan express lagos ibadan rail Murtala airport new terminal apapa-oworonshoki express Outer marina ring road this is just the SW, these things were going nowhere and they were a source of pain and hardship before Buhari. feel free to list what GEJ left behind for you, otherwise the only legacy he has for your children is stories from you about once upon a time the naira. Your story and those talking with Nostalgia about Jonathan are like children berating their father for not buying them the latest clothes and toys as children Forgetting that your parent gave you the most valuable gift….education. It is that education that is the legacy of your parents not clothes or toys that spoil or become obsolete. Anyone talking about Jonathan has the mindset of a child who cannot see beyond their nose or the present. An adult sees beyond today into the future. These adults with a mind of a child are often the same people who think a Peter Obi that left nothing in 8 years as Anambra governor can rescue a more complex structure like Nigeria.......children!! 1 Like |

Bobloco: It is you people who are spending Naira and thinking $ that will continue to feel the pain. Otherwise i don't see how this affects your income and what it can buy in food market. Is $ what you are spending in the market? 1 Like 1 Share |

blacknp: Why were you exchanging your N for $? Because you were speculating? It is people like you who cause problem for businesses who genuinely need $ for their raw materials. You should be ashamed of yourself for the role you have played in ruining the economy, and here you are praising God for your evil act. |

Emusan: I think we are rather just mixing up everything. Now the true position is that the value of your currency is effectively a measure of your country's productive capacity. What we have before now is a fake exchange rate where government continues to defend or the currency. Devaluing your currency have its merit and demerit. When you devalue your currency, you will have inflation. However, inflation should ordinarily encourage increased local production. This is the real area where we are having problems. If the price of yams go up as a result of increased demand normally people should go into yam cultivation to cash out on the demand and high price. But let tell ourselves the truth, nobody wants to farm. Go to Europe that doesn't have land and see what is called agriculture. That is why food is cheap in the developed countries. Our people will go to Europe and they will be employed in farms but they can't farm while in Nigeria. I am not convinced that Nigeria should not be able to feed ourselves. We continue to import all manners of nonsense and we don't export anything and expect our currency to be strong. It is not a matter of PMB or GEJ or Tinubu. If we can produce even what we eat alone, Naira will appreciate. 2 Likes 1 Share |

What do we want: For government to continue to defend the naira and have zero infrastructural development Or For government to stop defending the naira, and build infrastructure I think the missing piece is that we produce nothing. That should be the focus now We need stable light, good security, good road and dood communication to encourage investors to come |
