Hello everyone. Please, my wife and I just relocated to the UK under the skilled visa. Though, I am the dependent here but I already got a job too. Right now, we are yet to secure our accommodation but we are seriously working on this. The issue is that we still have our kids with the grandparents back in Nigeria and we hope to have our kids us soon. We have paid all the visa fees, and we are looking forward to booking their biometrics. However, we are contemplating that both grandparents retired (grandpa doesn't like travelling, he has only gone out for pilgrimage) or only grandma, who has more travel history ( she has been to Uk once, Qatar once, SA and UAE twice) accompany these kids to the UK by applying for visitor visa for them. What are the chances that both granparents will be given visa or grandma alone? Also, do we need to book the kids biometrics with the grannies for higher chance or we need to book their biometrics separately? Then what are the other things to consider so to have a successful visa for them? Will be counting on the wealth of experience here. Thank you and God bless!!

I’m in the process of applying for my children (9,7 and 2yrs) and apart from their birth certificate and my bank statement, we are being asked to provide their evidence of financial (their own bank statement)

I’ve drafted a letter stating they do not have bank s at the moment . However, I’ll like to find out if anyone had gone that route and if it was successful

Lack of accommodation may prove a challenge as you should be able to show that you’re able to accommodate your kids and grandparents. You’ve already gone ahead to pay for the visa fees but if I were you I’ll wait to resume my job, have proof of address and at least one pay slip to show proof of income.

Plan to have fun, for long layovers (not sure of the duration) they will lodge you in a 5 star hotel in the city with good food. If you have time, you can tour. Just make sure you don't miss the bus conveying you back to the airport for your next flight.

How did you manage to get the wifi extenders please? I need them but reaching virgin to request has been such a hassle.

I got them as part of my contract initially. I had a few devices that i needed to be wired in, so I requested them as part of my initial setup, then called them that I still had connectivity issues a short while later and then sent another one. I'd say just ring them and make a request.

Just your bank statememt is enough. For mine, I didn't bother writing any letter of explanation. I just ed their birth certificate, my husband’s statement, and a letter from their school confirming their enrollment in school.

Virgin Media is not available in my area I would have cancelled my talktalk sharp sharp because I'm still in the cooling off period.

I believe this might be one of those deals where you pay half price for the initial 6 months and full price later(i might be wrong), I got BT for £16 initially and eventually turns to £28. Although I haven't paid a dime in the past 15 months as they gave me credit as it took several months before they came to setup .

1. The parents visas might not be approved as Home office might enquire about the whereabouts of the children (if they were included in the student visa application)

2. If the parents visas are approved without applying for the children, then the children fall out of status/become overstayers. They will not be able to re enter the UK if they leave for whatever reason e.g. holidays, and they no longer qualify for free non emergency NHS treatment, which means their parents might get sent a bill for any hospital treatments.

3. Might not matter in the long term if the parents plan to leave the UK eventually. However the points in #2 still apply while they are based in the UK. Plus any periods of overstaying will be noted on the children's records

It's things like this that lead to new entrants getting pressured unnecessarily. Life should be easy but we tend to make it difficult when we look into other people's garden without knowing the efforts that goes into keeping it green.

Health are and construction work are two different fields and you don't expect them to offer same wage plan. Likewise spending habits. What is convenient to one person may not to the other. Don't overdo yourself.

This has nothing to do with black people or Nigerians. People argue nonsense and allow their egos push them into d**k measuring contests all the time whether that’s based on income or other things. It’s definitely a human thing and not racial.

Comparison they say is the thief of joy. Figures will always be relative as what is decent pay for friend A might not be for friend B owing to several factors( lifestyle choices, location, family size, future plans etc) that are peculiar to each of them. They both should learn to be circumspect and enjoy their respective "decent pay" while putting in the work to better themselves so complacency does not set in.
