Don't quit., Not enough reason to quit. It's very annoying, but some work environment will always come with one issue or another. Continue to observe what goes on. If he doesn't want you to do a good job or be strict, then soften a bit.

99.9% of bosses use this same divide and rule scheme on their employees.
They give fake addresses on unity and encourage disunity among their employees.

You just have to be smart.

Anyways from what u said I can say that he just apply a strategy to keep u all in Checks. That's his method and everyone/boss has his/her method.

l feel your pain.

I do work in such an environment as well. My Boss (owner) operates in the same way. Loves office drama, hearsay and strives on office gossip.

But l just concentrate on my job and make sure that l that my impact speaks for itself.

Dear Op it is very common in private settings.l don't know why they behave in such manner.Maybe it's insecurity or inferiority complex.


Just ignore ...be bold , know what you are doing and be able to be a one man army.Don't allow anybody to intimidate you.Work at you own will.


Years back when l faced a situation like that.l didn't send anybody o because l know non of them has the God's given talents and wisdom l
have.l didn't let any side talk get to me.l took decisions on my own so far it is good for the company.l didn't allow anyone to toss me around.l stood tall and face any issue squarely with out any fear.l showed them sege before l resign n started my personal business.

There is no need to fault your boss here. Appraisal can be from bottom to top (using your subordinates) to evaluate your performance on the job or your interpersonal skills. Evaluation can as well come from top to bottom (you the manager evaluates your subordinates. The better way your boss gets information about you is through your subordinates, who interact with you on a daily basis. Don't see it as witch hunt. Have an open mind to improve where ever weakness might be spotted out for improvement.

I can't see whatever is being mentioned here as a problem. Your working experience is not only achieved through your academic qualifications but organisation difference settings which prove how you can withstand pressure at work. I went through this same scenario for five good years, all I could do was to ignore and pretend as if I didn't notice anything of such dough it was a tough challenge but as of today the MD of the company has scattered and lost all the key staff which have also turned everything upside down for him also affected his business.
Don't quit, remain strong, do your best and be loyal. The result is on its way

My dear, that's indirectly of your boss telling you to resign..Fine , if not by any means why he is using others against you as a overall manager he can't have your words but believing on other's words?

Exactly. No issue. The boss is only using to appraise him and expect him to improve. Rather than working on the , he is complaining. I think he is the one with issue

Shouldn't the boss be getting from customers? Abi na the colleagues and staff dey consume the service or products?

How are you sure that what he is telling you is not a ploy to get you to talk about other staff too. Moreover, no one is 100% perfect. If you check the complaint and see that you are stiff with your decisions, then you try to make it a little flexible. That's all.

He is an good entrepreneurer and an astute manager. If he does not employ the divide and rule, I don't see his business surviving, that's what many general managers do to be everywhere at all time

My guy you don't know what God has done for you, you even have a Boss that respect you enough to still level with you on matters concerning his establishment and you're here having second thought when you for wear a smile on your face and tag along. From what I observed here probably a promotion is in the air and he is just vetting you to see if you're deserving. Everyone hate a Manager I know this because I am one your subbordinate will always look for favors with your employer and thereby tarnish your image in the process making you look like the bad guy and the worst you would do right now is to confront your Boss, just suck it up and chill you got this.

This thing is very common with Nigeria hotel owners,80% percent of information they will be given him maybe false and he might be taken his decisions based on lies. This strategy always undermines the manager and give your subordinate power. A wise owner rely on objective metrics to measure performance not rumours and gossips. If you find a better place, just leave.
