President Bola Tinubu says part of the recently signed N28.7 trillion 2024 budget component is N100 billion allocated for school feeding programmes.

He made this statement on Monday while g the 2024 appropriation bill into law in the State House in Abuja.

Tinubu stated that the provision would serve as a stimulant to encourage school attendance and reduce the problem of out-of-school children.

“One of the priority areas of the bill we just ed is the N100 billion provision for feeding school children. I believe that is a stimulant that will encourage enrollment and address malnutrition among school children.

“I will be meeting with local governments at sub-national levels so that we can collaborate and tly implement an all-inclusive programme,” he said.

The President also confirmed that the christened “Renewed Hope” budget is anchored on reducing the recurrent expenditure but increasing capital expenditure.

Recall that in December, Tinubu ordered the reintroduction of the school feeding programme and mandated its transfer from the Humanitarian Ministry to the Education Ministry.

Tinubu's got a PhD in making promises.

“I will be meeting with local governments at sub-national levels so that we can collaborate and tly implement an all-inclusive programme,” he said.
If making promises is all it takes to be a good leader, I think Tinubu would have been one of the best presidents in the world. It is one of his major secrets for deceiving the very gullible Nigerians.

Do you know what it means to meet the local governments at subnational levels? Do you know what it would take for the school feeding program to be actually all-inclusive? Does he even think about the things he says?

Any Nigerian waiting for Tinubu to deliver quality service-oriented leadership is naive. Why? A guy who bought his way to power can't care about the masses. Instead, he only cares about recouping his investment. He is in business. So, instead of complaining endlessly, let's either kick out this FG istration or it for the sake of our mental health.

100bn for which schools abeg? The one in mars or Jupiter? Cos I don't see any school around that gets free food and the ones they show pictures of a few times don't look like food made with such ridiculous budgets as stated here.

Very good. And how are we paying for this? More Loans.

100 billion in university scholarships for 200,000 students (500k each) would have been better.

We need special intervention from federal government for improvement in basic education Access. Like grants to qualified local councils and government too.

I think this program should be stopped. It's become an avenue to become rich for public servants, which has defeated the whole purpose.
What Nigerians can not corrupt does not exist. The Nigerians tendencies to get rich by any means possible should be studied in Universities.
It's OK to make billions legitimately, but stealing the future of an entire generation of people in the country just to secure your own future and that of your family is a grave crime I consider worse than genocide.

Do people fear poverty this much, or is it just unchecked human greed?

They should forget about school feeding. They should use it to develop the schools to reasonable standards. What is the essence of feeding without providing the qualitative standards of study

So they are telling me it costs 273,972,603 per day to feed school children. That's supposing they are fed even during holidays. Interesting
