Soludo condems idolatry in South-East

The Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has decried the increasing rate of idolatry in the South East, noting that it is disheartening, despite the proliferation of churches across the region.

He noted that out of the number of people professing Christianity, only a few are genuinely practising it.

This is just as he advised church leaders not to focus on physical projects to the detriment of evangelism and soul-winning.

Soludo, who said this during the 10th edition of the Anglican Prayer Rally of Anambra State, in Awka, on Saturday, called for a reduction of fees charged in schools owned by churches to ensure affordability for the vulnerable and the downtrodden in society.

He said, “The increasing rate of idolatry amidst the proliferation of churches is regrettable. We must avoid the complacency of those who feel we have arrived; making the church remain on a maintenance level.

“If we are not careful, I see a dangerous trend where the church will get distracted in various directions of system maintenance, projects upon projects.

The governor stressed that the essence of governance and Christianity remained touching on the lives of the poor and vulnerable while assuring that his government is committed to the citizens’ welfare amid limited available resources.

The Archbishop, Province of Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim, called on both the federal and state governments to make necessary sacrifices for the betterment of the citizenry.

Earlier in his sermon, the Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor said the essence of the prayer rally was to allow the congregation to encounter God who desired fruitfulness and multiplication for his children.

A sitting governor being an open religious bigot is a problem.

But a lot of us won't see the problem because it isn't against Islam or Christianity.

This type of government comment will promote shrine burning and other harassment of Traditional worshippers.

It should be condemned totally

What soludo is talking about is true, having stayed in east for some years, those Igbo people worship two masters, on Sunday it is church, other days na shrine, before some of their business men employs someone, they take them to shrine to swear or if their is any dispute between them and their employees(like case of missing item or Money), na for shrine them dey settle that kind matter.

This large scale apostasy we are witnessing in the SE is what is driving the ongoing madness over there.

Cannibalism, human sacrifices and materialism are what is destroying the SE and these are all rooted in paganism.

Christians are closet fundamentalists .

If atheist or pagans target these idiots they cry to the high moon and claim freedom of speech .

There is no difference between a Christian and a jihadi muslim
