When he sees that the prices of other sellers are lesser and he is no longer getting patronage, then he will reduce his price gradually or be more receptive to negotiations - charging high prices to customers who are less informed of market dynamics and discretely agreeing to lower prices for customers who know what's up.

That is why Competition is good and should be encouraged.
