Sorry oh, but why is it at the point of purchase you thought of insurance? Use these for insurance. Mind you, if your insurance is starting today, it's likely going to be slightly higher. You might be better off leaving the car and picking it up another day or asking the vendor to move it to your home.

Like you I ed in August and went ahead to inform them (hastings direct), and was charged a one off fee of almost GBP 100.

I asked why and the agent said because I was a 'new' UK driver, so my risk was higher. Didn't make sense but I had to follow-through because I had updated my information. So my advise: stay silent, wait till end of your current tenure and go back on the market for a cheaper deal.

my Intl drivers licence also expired i.e I was using it for more than 12months which is also risky, so had to update my details at all costs.

Sometimes it is painful to realize that we are a blessed people, yet we suffer for the minutest things. I did export business while in naija...charcoal specifically, and I saw hell, before things started to get better and I ran back to start writing "patient was apparently well until 2 days ago ".

When I see how farmers in other African nations don't have to go through these rigours, I weep.

At this point, I don't even mind exploring East Africa.

That's my plan when I'm ready to revisit the business in the future. Someone suggested Benin Republic specifically for palm fruit farming. Nigeria agro industry is for those with either money bags or shock absorbers and huge risk appetite. Talking from experience

Bro, no be today e start. All those Senators all own business in African countries. They have back ups here and there. But, they would never initiate and sustain policies that would make agro business thrive for the common man.

Uganda and Kenya are reaping massively from agro export.

With our arable farmlands in Naija herdsmen no go allow you see road.

Imagine the market sesame, ginger, hibiscus (which we relegated to making zobo) , cashew, stoneflower, etc control globally.

Indians and Lebanese and Chinese guys with their heavy capital and favours from greasing palms are exploiting these markets in naija.


I how these guys would go to farm gate and because they are fair and yellow , they spoil the price and the unexposed natives who have not seen oyibo fall over themselves to sell to them.
I suddenly become "Omo yigbo" as better don come.
The problem of that country is just deep rooted.

That’s a terrible idea.

The moment you become a fully licensed driver your previous insurance becomes invalid which means first it’s a crime to continue driving, and if you have any accident your insurance company will not cover.

100 pounds is not worth that risk.

The resident said she pin him to the wall, rough handled him and he felt scared for his life. But she was shocked at the sudden change of tone. There was no bruise or anything physical on the resident. However, she said the nurse in question hated her so much and have told many lies about her to the manager to get her sacked. The same nurse had previously made the owner to sack an African carer and she is the only African carer left they were just 2 before.

The issue is the resident is saying he is ing his lawyers ( she believes the nurse is pressurising him to do so). The owner sent her a letter postponing her regular review until she hears from her lawyers.

Please what do you advise my friend to do cos she is worried.

Yes inform them.

If you don't inform them, the insurance will be on your int'l licence which is now invalid making the insurance invalid. You won't be able to make a in the event of an accident and this may be costly.

Except you want to continue to drive on the int'l license and not the UK license.

I was a victim of this in my first few months in this country, the default advise given to new immigrants is to find a Nigeria church so as to get help with job, accommodation etc

I get to know a Nigerian through a family friend here when i was looking for accommodation, He gave a room in a house he was subletting, gave me a bible, helped me find a 'job' with Royal Mail,(i worked for a day and never went back) took me to their church where he is very very respected and almost everyone knows him.

I was settled with him and keep going to that church even without him. when i moved in there he told me that the rent is bills inclusive(£50 a wk) which i was happy with.

just 3wks in the accommodation i received a bill of £200, i called to ask him and he said i should just pay it.
