definitely the old owner renewed it before the grace period was about to expire or someone else bought it from auctions. . Name was ed since 2017 so definitely not a dropped domain.

Don't be sore. Not all Exact match buy names. Even when listed for $100. Their online presence isn't that great. And clearly they aren't making the effort to improve it. They have poor or average google rating. It seems they don't care much about their online rep.
