I the below thread where some people opined that Yoruba are not the largest Nigeria tribe in the USA. On this thread, we reiterated time and time and time that Yorubas are by far the largest group of Nigerians in USA, UK, and Canada based on available data from the government of those countries.

This new decision by the state of Maryland validate this fact.

The tribes that destroyed Nigeria are the ones running away.

while yorubas concentrate on just 4 places (Lagos, UK, U.S and Canada), igbos are more widespread and can be found in large numbers in both these mentioned 4 places and other places such as China or even Kenya

It's just a natural thing for the Yorubas to triumph and globally recognize in Artistry and their Language as long as it's in excellence accreditation, intelligentsia and absolute educational pursuits. Here in US, Nigerians are well recognized and given kudos but YORUBAS are just excellently pronounced and exceptional....Often, you want to be a Yoruba so as to feel a sense of belonging. That tribe just have a spiritual something in them that makes people of other ethnicity in the US etc.. to love them and want to relate with them....

To be honest, my brother up there is right.

In of reach outside the African continent, no other African language beat the Yoruba in of notoriety Fame.

I am not saying Yoruba is the most spoken language in Africa based on number of people but in of notoriety Fame outside the African continent, I haven’t seen one that beat Yoruba.

What contribute majorly to that is that Afro beat and high number of Yoruba people in the West.
please Yorubas are famous not notorious.

Sing a love song to me in yoruba at night I bet you won't be able to go to work the preceding morning.

As a typical benin girl I must confess that the yoruba language is a powerful and beautiful tool for global communication.
It's my favourite language because it opens up a world of opportunities.

It is not just a Nigerian language but communities in the Caribbean, South America, and the United States also speak it.

In fact, the Yoruba culture is rich and vibrant, with a long history and a strong tradition of art, music, and storytelling.

The Yoruba language is vibes.
It's rich.
Its rich in proverbs, folktales, and oral histories.

In fact, the Yoruba culture is a fascinating tapestry of art, religion, social norms, and language.

If any sugar daddy decide to sponsor me in school again I will study yoruba language , Its global influence underscores its richness and resilience, and studying it provides invaluable insights into African cultural diversity.

I love tinubu.

When we're ready to rule, the world is out there waiting for us.

We can never rule with the English language. The world is waiting for what we can create in Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Ijaw, Efik, Ibibio, Nupe, Bini, etc.

We can only rule with and in our language, God, education. Those are the only tools a culture can use to create in it's own unique way and compete with other cultures across the world.

We have everything but the problem is in our minds. We have been trained not to see any future without the language of our enslavement. That's the problem.

Why some Yorubas are denying their history and cultural background and embracing other culture or religion from other continent. Learn to appreciate your origin and celebrate your culture not foreign culture or religion. Peace!

I am so happy with this message of yours, especially "Yoruba is a universal language"

That's what we should be saying about our various native African languages if we ever want to be free. Unfortunately, the people who should be saying that are running across the world teaching how to speak and write like William Shakespeare.......... educated slaves.

Was any claim made by the OP that Maryland is the entire USA?

Obviously, you did not read the topic or you just have poor reading and comprehension skills.

Don’t mind those one.

I few years ago where they delude themselves that Yoruba are more in UK and Igbo are more in USA.

If not for us that refuted that lies, they would have still continue to parrot that false statement. Now any Ibo guy is always careful to say Igbo are more in USA especially my friend Ofoigbo .

Igbos are more in USA.

Adding Yoruba language to the test in Maryland doesn't validate that Yoruba have bigger population.

The difference is the way the language is spoken.. I am igbo but understand a but of Yoruba.

In igbo, not many people know all the words, say like ten naira etc or to tell time..

Over the years.. igbo have been Englishized grin

Also Yoruba parents are more quick to teach there kids yoruba but Igbos not so much.

There are many igbos in Nigeria that there kids don't speak igbo but that could be true with yoruba also but the percentage of that is higher in Igbo parents /household.

Same outside Nigeria. In London for example.. it is not rare to see an England born kid switch between yoruba and English seamlessly but it is for igbo.. you don't always see that..

That's why I say be proud of yourself, your heritage and people will respect that. I growing up.. I was always told I sound igbotic. grin grin but my yoruba friends were never told they sound Yorubatic.. grin

So many igbos do switch to English when communicating and thus the language is slowly dying ...
