Nigeria Maintains Largest African Economy For Fifth Year In A Row (18312 Views)
smeag0l(m): 8:39pm On Jul 21, 2023 |
This news adds nothing to the plight of the common man! It is common sense that the countries with the largest populations in Africa should have the biggest economies so we are doing nothing special to have the biggest economy which is just a measure of GDP ONLY. However, what most people don't know is that the GDP is not a real measure of how a country is doing. The real measure is GDP per capita, unemployment numbers, interest rates, balance of trade, GINI index and the current of the country(excess crude in our own case). All of these indices are very much on the negative for Nigeria.

nedu666: It's very possible. That is econ growth. A situation whereby certain economic indices like business transactions within a year look positive but doesn't translate to better living standards compared to economic development which is a combination of growth and better living standards 1 Like |

Very fraudulent and manipulative news, Nigeria became the biggest economy in Africa when the economy was rebased during the Jonathan istration in 2013 and this was achieved as a result of the rapid economic growth rate experienced during the Obasanjo istration.

helinues:When Dem talk say make you go learn for school, you go rush go dey do Agbero(awon set owomi da). It is quite apparent that you do not understand the difference between economic growth and economic development. Nigeria's problem has never been that of economic growth; but guess what, we are not recognized as economically developed, because our standard of living is appalling compared to other countries. That is why Nigeria still has millions of people who are within the poverty bracket. Try go for one primary school go learn small. This your 5k per month job whey you dey so as online miscreant no go fit sustain you ooo. I don talk my own. Ronu ooo! |

Nigeria's population is too massive. It will not allow GDP per Capita to make sense.

When you look at the size and population of the people in Nigeria, then you will realize the reason why this GDP is poor. This translates to higher rates of poverty in the country compared to other top African countries

Na wa o! The whole of African economy is not up to half of Carllfonia’s. The only way Africa can be reckoned with as an economic force is if it unites. But alas! That ain’t gonna happen.

And the people are crying everyday due to hardship inflicted on the people everywhere inch per square metre... One thing I understand with nigeria is that eg "You will hear someone from afar will say this man is very nice to people but his people around at home are crying for his lack of attention to them". We are good in making people outside see us as a good people while at home we are demons.. Nigeria As best this, best that in Africa just leave your country come to Nigeria and see what's therein and please don't go to those cities you already show on TV oo... Take a tour around and some places and see.. 2 Likes |
