ceejayluv:They should cut their recently increased salaries by 50% then add part of the subsidy money & implement the new minimum wage(may be not up to the 100k as proposed by the cleric) |

ochukoccna: @the bolded. Since 90s going by what I have read, several attemps have been made to plan towards removing the subsidy.. the time has never been right still and that's why we are still here we are today economically.. Until that strong leadership came via Tinubu, there has never been the right time & there could never have been the right time using the approach suggested by your humble self.. The descision has been made & we will become better for it at the long run |

This is the kind of prophecy we expect from Rev. Ayodele and not the prophecy of who wins or loses election.

Where are the economic Professors who are supposed to be advise these men…?? They are talking about increasing minimum wage, how about the private sector, how do they benefit….?? How about the ones in the rural communities how do they benefit…?? The said money for palliative, what if they use it to fight insecurity and empower the farmers so they comfortably go back to their farms. At least start from somewhere.

VeeVeeMyLuv:continually increasing minimum wage will continually increase inflation. You don't get it? You don't continually checkmate inflation with increased minimum wage. You'd destroy the economy that way.. Better still, Naira will be as useless as Zimbabwean million notes. 1 Like |

Omooba77:Just increasing minimum wages for civil servants & public servants including politicians will not solve the economic problems. What of those that're not on government payroll? The solution is good governance, curbing wastges in governance, encouraging productivity, curbing insecurity etc. |

900warriorz:Then what is the point of continual use of local currency, then they should dump it and adopt the foreign currency na? The truth remains that salaries can no longer.provide the basic needs (food, clothes, shelter) of families! ![]() ![]() What do you think should be done? Is it not the same increment that took the salary in those days of level 10 from ₦1000 to over ₦200,000 now? What do you think increased it to this amount over the years? Increment, upward review. If not eh, hunger for don finish the country reducing the population to 1,000,000 people if not for these increments. So my friend the increment is the logical thing to do, it is long overdue. |

Both can be done. Workers are a small part of the population. What happens to majority others who are not workers and can't benefit from an increase in minimum wage? Same argument for those who say the N500bln should be used to procure buses and distribute across the country to make transportation cheaper. Again both can be done. Short term cash palliatives AND a massive public transportation roll out can be done. Afterall during covid, US, UK and many other developed countries provided cash to vulnerable households to cushion the impact of sit at homes and widespread job losses. |
