Slave Master at workplace

I have noted the rise in “slavery” at work place. It ranges from the CEO thinking he has “slaves” working for him to the Line Manager who thinks he is working with bunch of errand boys and girls. Little did people realize that life has its advantages and disadvantages. We are humans before are colleagues; and everyone should be treated with respect.

I recently learnt about a Line Manager who is in the habits of sending his colleagues on errands to buy him food, take his cloth to laundry and even drive them home (when the colleagues ought to be ing him at work). This form of “slavery” is a harassment at workplace.

By their fruits you shall know them and fruits of slave masters are as follows:
1. They believe in nobody but themselves
2. They belittle your efforts
3. They make you second-guess yourself
4. They focus on your weak part rather than strength
5. They give you less important jobs rather than help you to grow
6. They play politics on the job
7. They micromanage everyone and fail to manage themselves
8. They emotionally harass their colleagues

The unfortunate thing is that most people feel helpless because the person they ought to report to are the cronies and ers of the harrassers!

Do you know how to deal with them? Pray them out or get another job. Yes! I believe in prayers.

Omoh, nothing dey as sweet as when you're your own boss...... I know how it is,and what it takes to wake up everyday, just to go to work and end up being insulted even when you know you're trying your best in discharge of your duties/work..

If you invest in this country an give this jobless youth Job, They will still come online and berate you for putting food in their table

I know an employer, who doesn't believe in using his employees as a slave.
"They work for you to earn a living…" he'll say… "They deserve their respect their own way. The world revolves and times change. They can be in my place in the future while I come to theirs."

All the people you meet going up, you may meet them again on your way down. So, know how you treat people. Create an atmosphere you'd love to be in for others as well.

That's why he always tell his employees ways of investing part of their salaries so as to have a ive income even while working for him, "Because you see this job, it won't be yours forever. So make hay while there is sunshine."

And he's happy he made a family out of his employees.

And you dare not tell him you have no suggestion(s) or idea(s). Even if it doesn't make sense, just say something and we'll look into it.

And after I said that in the dream, I woke up.

The OP is talking about employers and senior colleagues who request things that are out of job description from their employees and reports. But you turned it around on the employee's head.

People like you don't believe employees have rights. You believe you're doing them a favour by hiring them. Well, this kind of mentality only thrives where your jobs require little or no specialized skills. Employers who have tried this nonsense with specialists know how much it has affected their company. In many cases, such companies DIE.

When talent resigns from your company and you spend up to six months searching and sacking before finding a good replace, body go tell you.

I see a lot of comments talking about how (Nigerian) employees like to complain and how employees should either endure the dehumanisation at their work place or resign.

Obviously, many of you have a slavery mentality. When you're poor, you practice self-deprecation in the hopes of getting rich someday so that you can also enslave others as you've been enslaved when you're poor.

Employees in Nigeria love to whine and complain a whole lot

Very toxic set of people who see themselves as demigods. They become fantastic husband's at home at church or mosque they become the most humblest person. Everyone of us have this inbuilt attitude it only reflect when you find yourself in position of authority.
