1. Hope that bucket has holes under for water to escape/sip off? Otherwise overtime it'll get muddy with a foul smell and they will die
2. Ensure you protect them from rats otherwise they could all be wiped off in a day.
3 you will need great deal of patience, they don't grow that fast to table size, they require months
4. They are Prof when it comes to escape, cover them with heavy stuff

The above points were from my personal experience.

I found some about 20 snails in my backyard which my dad brought from his farm;
At first I wanted to eat it till I ed a nairaland thread about vegetable farming, I am rearing it.
Below is my progress which I'll be sharing from day one till the last including vegetables too, enjoy

This is a bold step but dedication is the key.

- Get a big bowl and transfer them there. For me where you put them is too small.

- You need more soil and it must be treated against ants, spiders and whatever that will harm your snails.

- You need to feed them dried egg shells coz it serves as calcium for them. They love egg shell. Just try it.

- Remove those sticks asap as they can attract ants. You only need one ant to locate your snail house and snails are in danger.

- Although snails can eat almost anything, you still need to study what's best to feed them and what not. *I fed some snails waterleaf and I noticed they all lost considerable weight.*

- Secure you snails from preys and don't expose them to much sun. Make sure their soil is always moist.

- When they start laying you will feel accomplished but that's just the start.

- Always pay attention to your snail.

- Beware of soldier ants by any means necessary. So, protect your snails.

The bucket was covered with something to reduce sunlight, I also but a wood there and 2 tree branches for them to commute.
I put scent leave and utazi inside the bucket to observe if they'll eat it

So far so good, they ate the leaves as seen, they're doing well so far

Stop giving them leaves. Give them african bread fruit or oranges. to feed them in the evening/ at night

Honestly, op you just motivated me with this. God will crown your effort.

So far, so good;
The snails were previously doing fine the all of a sudden, the ran away from me.
I've search but no avail so I decided to buy those big ones from the marketplace specially for rearing and see how it goes.

The reason for escape was there was a space opening which they slipped away from, so always ensure you close the lid with little ventilation or net so that they can't escape.

Yes that's right. Everyone knows that large scale farming requires a very serious attention to avoid gbese (debt).


I'm planning to go into cash crop farming, coconut precisely. Though I don't know anything yet about it but when I'll get proper training and mentorship as soon as I acquire the land for it.


Honestly, farming pays. With patience, hardwork and consistency, the profit really worths the stress.
