You're rich and are better off in Nigeria. The abroad is a mad system. You make money, but the system is designed to take almost everything. For instance you said it's bliss to make money in dollars. It's not the same feeling for someone resident abroad. In the US, the Govt takes up to 40% of your crypto earnings. You have to declare that on your 1099. I guess in Nigeria you probably got away with no taxes asides the one you paid during the transactions. Taxes, taxes you will share all your earnings with the govt, pay high bills and insurance! There isn't anything superb about being abroad if you are making good money in Nigeria.
This advice says it all and to me is the best. Follow it ask those who are abroad, many of them want to come back but find it very difficult because of one reason or the other, but deep down their minds hmmmm, they want to come back.
They have seen it all, all the hidden fact is open to them but "something" is holding them. Though you can go there on holiday, you can give birth to your kids there for 'had I know sake' but if you are making it here in Nigeria please stay.

Penguin2 is indeed a bird of reason!!
@OP: I'll advise you stick to business(seems u have d capital)- real estate is good. Just make sure u learn about business! Take real estate courses, talk to business men, maybe work for or move around with some of them to learn the nitty gritty of business as it's not all about capital alone.
Also, u can pick an IT skill if you are so keen on going abroad.. but ensure u perfect that skill before going.
And even if u don't go abroad, d IT skill can be a hard fall back if ur businesses bust.
Penguin2:
You are already a millionaire in Nigeria and your kind of business is not affected by economic realities of the country. Why then do you want to throw your freedom away and move to another country to go and start living like a stranger in another man’s land?
That real estate business you thought of is good. Just make sure you don’t develop in the bush so you don’t have difficulties in selling.
About materials becoming cost, shebi if materials are cost you factor it into the cost of building the property which will then determine how much you would sell.
I’m not abroad but I think a lot of people that were doing well like you but chose to the japa bandwagon always end up regretting it. So, think it through.

My advice; relocate. It will open you to better opportunities.
I believe you're still yet to become a full time crypto trader. I guess you buy coins and sell when they appreciate. That's just one aspect.
I will advice you learn Future trading; an aspect of crypto trading. It's actually a skill. Learn it and you will never have any reason to want to work any 9-5 job.
Do you know how to do Technical Analysis? Can you analyze any crypto asset? If you haven't learned how to do Technical Analysis, that's the aspect you should focus on right now to learn and master it.
Technical Analysis is a sustainable skill on its own. I will advise you to learn that or Forex trading instead of the coding.
When you know something, it becomes your full time job. I know how much most Forex and technical crypto traders are making. It's a long term skill that will put food on your table forever.
I mean real technical traders o not just those that only buy coins and sell coins I am referring to o. Professional technical traders that can analyse any crypto asset and trade it.
I believe persons like Habby Forex and Jeffrey Benson who take Forex as full time skill won't be thinking of learning any other thing. Those are Technical Forex traders that master their skills and it's what is putting food on their table till date. I guess person like Habby won't wake up one day and say he wants to learn another skill when what he already knows is making him millions of dollars every year.
That's why I said go and learn the technical side of crypto trading not just merely buying of Meme coins to sell in the future.
Relocate if you have the means but try and learn the technical aspect of trading and become a professional crypto or Forex technical trader. That's the real deal.

Good day Nairalanders. Pls I need some mature advice because I’ve been in a dilemma for a long time now concerning relocating abroad or staying back in Nigeria.
First of all I’m not a japa advocate. I believe if you’re doing well in Nigeria then there’s no point relocating abroad but I feel there’s so much uncertainty and I don’t know what the future holds for me in this country.
Now I’m a married man of 30 years. I will turn 31 by this September. We have no child yet but wife is preg now. I have a B.Eng in petroleum Engineering but have never worked in my life. My current business is crypto trading which I have been doing for years now. During the 2021 crypto bull run I made lot of money and acquired some properties that’s currently valued atleast 60-70m naira in total. bought my car same year and got married same year to my long time Gf, settled some family etc . I don’t have any other investments or business aside my properties and crypto portfolio because crypto trading has taken all my time and I won’t complain because so far it has been good. Making money in dollars while in Nigeria is bliss. Even though we have been in bear season since 2022, I still make some money every now and then that’s sustainable for now until we hit another bull run which is likely to happen from next year 2024.
My fear lies here, on the long run crypto trading is not sustainable. If not for 2021 bull run I don’t think I would be in this position and even the projected bull run next year is not 100% certain
I plan on learning a programming skill which is very difficult, I tried learning it late last year but stopped along the line because it was distracting me from trading and missing some opportunities in crypto because making money is most important. Coding would probably take me a few years before I start earning even though it is sustainable long term but crypto trading can be life changing but not sustainable long term . It’s more like a gamble most times.
My plan A, is to gather enough money from now till 2025 which is the duration of the projected bull run if it happens and start investing in real estate development, Like building and selling and other businesses too but I don’t know how feasible that is in our present day Nigeria and if I don’t make my target amount, I might have to start with the available resources present.
plan B, gather some money, learn a skill then relocate to Canada with my family via study route since I don’t have any real work experience aside crypto trading but that would mean me going to study and starting afresh.
For my wife, she also has a degree in Human Resources with just nysc as working experience. She learnt wig making and installation and has been doing her online biz selling wigs etc.
Abroad folks, what are my chances abroad considering my current profile. Is it worth it coming over there to start afresh
And build? I have heard so many things how it’s hard getting a job and you have to rely on survival jobs for the first few years expecially for someone without any work experience.
I really don’t like ing the bandwagon cos everyone seems to be leaving, I love to weigh my options and hate taking unnecessary risk that might lead to regrets, at the same time don’t want to regret not leaving since I’m still young and have the opportunity that’s why I’m here asking these questions to learn from experienced and matured family men home and abroad the action they would take. We learn everyday,
For my unborn kids, if everything checks out, my plan is to give birth to them in either Canada or US for the port and raise them in Nigeria and when they are grown, send them to study there and that is only if I’m not relocating. And if I’m relocating, what are the in-demand skills and professions I have to take since it’s clear I might be going to school because I hate survival jobs. What is your advice pls.
Mature advice pls. Thank you 🙏
@justwise @Disguy
@OP I was in your shoes as well, I made money during the crypto bull run too, I lost most of it too to altcoins, but I'm a programmer so the remote jobs paid better than crypto. I have relocated to Canada. I don't really have many regrets, except I should have chosen a different city with more job opportunities. and I should have acquired some certifications before coming here like health care certs, R certs, and the rest.
Those jobs pay well even for part-time.
Anyway, the bottom line is purchasing power in Nigeria is quite low now coupled with the insecurity. So starting a business is uninspiring. I would suggest you do some research acquire relevant skills and certificates before relocating.

Personally , I will advice u go with that option of your kid born abroad , train here and send back in future time for higher institution… Also , I don’t buy the idea of working for anyone if you already having some soft skills like you is crypto. My advice on career path is to enroll in a coding sch, and devote some of your time to master the skill very well. Then you can some intern job , over time you can venture into a self made business in your own skill where u can assist yourself. My one sent…
Exactly. He is thinking of a 9-5 job. How much will they pay him. 9-5 job can hardly make anyone rich. He is not fully a skilled crypto trader from the look of things. If he is he won't even think of doing any other thing.
He buys coins and sell when they appreciate. Anyone can do that na. I told him to go learn the technical aspect of trading. If he can master that, he will say bye bye to 9-5 job he is looking forward to.
He should go and get a good course and learn how to analyse crypto asset like Future trading. There is money in it if his Technical analysis skill is top notch.

Stay back in Nigeria. The crypto world will exist and will keep facing bear and bull cycles, just like any other financial market. I will advise you set up some kind of vocational school, like teaching people how to do industrial welding. When that business is well settled, you can be travelling and coming back at will. Even me who has tasted both worlds and currently outside, am returning this year now that Bubu's government is done with.
There is money in vocational education in Nigeria. I have clients that come from even other African countries. I am talking from experience.
If you look beyond all the political razzmatazz, there are already two government decisions that will become game changers in Nigeria's economy down the road.
a) Removal of fuel subsidy
b) The new electricity act that will now allow states to transmit their own generated power, which has been the impediment to improved power supply in Nigeria.
You can also see that the new finance act makes allowance for 10% tax on crypto transactions, which means that the Emefiele-era policy of banning such transactions from banks will soon be swept away with the man. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Consider what I have said carefully and seek God in prayers.

This is not a very good piece of advice though. Yes he can factor the increased cost into his selling price, but would there be a demand at the higher selling price?
I have a friend abroad who opened a Dialysis Centre in Nigeria in 2021. Spent considerable resources importing equipments from the US, Turkey and Japan. He ended up closing the business because there was no demand at his selling price. This is a business that caters to a demographic that is conscious about and takes care of their health. Price increase meant a lot of the upper middle class couldn’t afford it. Real estate is mostly similar demographics to this healthcare business. Unless he is building for corrupt politicians, many Nigerians cannot afford the cost of buying a piece of real estate with the current state of the economy
When you are in business, you don’t care where the money is coming from as long as you didn’t them in doing whatever illegal things they did to get the money. Your own is just to sell and get out.
Not everyone will afford a house. So, by going into property development, he already chose his market and would have to know that he won’t sell to paupers.
It’s like advising Rolls Royce to stop making expensive cars because British economy is nosediving. You know they won’t. They will simply increase the cost of their cars accordingly.
When you are going into business, you think like a businessman.
Even if a politician buys the house with stolen funds, when EFCC will come, it’s the house they will seize. Nobody will tell the seller to refund the money.

He simply didn't learn the skill before he started trading. His mindset was get rich quick.
I am still sounding it. This is a skill any one who wish to learn should take time to learn it and master it.
50 million. God forbid. He simply isn't good with technical analysis and maybe excessive greed. There are certain things one needs to learn to become a professional trader.
Don't just go into it cuz you see people making money with it. Those people have paid their dues. If your brother can take his time and learn this thing, he will become good at it and he will recover all he had lost.
It is not a skill for the greedy ones. It is a life time skill that requires time, patience, hunger for knowledge and to fully master it. And when you master it so well, life will forever be beautiful.
Tell your brother to take his time and learn first before investing in it. Tell him never to focus on the money aspect. He should first get the knowledge. Seek knowledge and the money will flow effortlessly.
