As the race for the Senate Presidency hots up, Vice President Kashim Shettima has said the most incompetent Southern Christian is better than the most puritanical Northern Muslim.

Shettima said he is ready to kneel and beg the incoming senators to allow a Southern Christian to emerge as the next Senate President.

He spoke during an interaction with the senators in Abuja.

According to Shettima: “I’m ready to kneel and beg my colleagues for the sake of the nation. This is for the survival of this nation.

“Here we are with a Muslim president and a Muslim vice-president in a multi-ethnic, multi-religious polity like ours.
“Number 1, 2. All of the same faith for God sake.

“Under the current dispensation, the worst, the most incompetent Southern Christian is better than the most puritanical Northern Muslim for the Presidency of the Senate.”

What he said is very logical and witty, and it's word play.

His simple message is that the SP must be a Southern Christian.

But surely many would soon come and misconstrue the statement.

Hypocrital Selfishness has killed us in this country. When they brought MM ticket it was all about competence to justify it, now he has what he wants and willing to kneel to allow even an incompetent southern christian to be senate president to further justify their MM ticket. So even if the Muslim senate president would have been competent it would fit their narrative to have an incompetent southern christian senate president.

I never said Shetima was not a hypocrite.

What a hypocrite. He was happy to be number 2 in a Muslim-Muslim ticket, but now wants to block another muslim from becoming number3. For me I don't care how emarges as SP as they are all in it for themselves, but what nobody should try and use religion or tribe to blackmail anyone. With the Muslim-Muslim ticket for Pres and VP, it's now open season. if SP and Speaker end up being muslim, so be it. That may even be the best outcome to knock sense into the thick heads of those southern christians that voted APC

When the foundation is wrong every other thing would be wrong.

That they have already gotten their MM ticket for the number 1 and 2 position everything they do from there on will be suspect.

He has gotten what he wanted, they should go all the way and make every position available to Muslims only because all this one shettima is talking is just nonsense.

Those who did africa this thing really damaged us. Africans divided by foreign religion and fighting for Islam or Christianity.

Saudi Arabi and Israel makes billions of dollars yearly from pilgrimage and most of it comes from Africans.
They use the funds to develop their countries and make it better for themselves.
Go to the hometown of many politicians, pastors and imams in Nigeria, they lack basic amenities and the roads are in decay while they donate money to build mosques and churches and go on pilgrimages.

We have too many things to worry about, religion should never have been in the list of our problem.
