Manchester City have been crowned UEFA Champions League winners after a 1-0 win over Inter in Istanbul. Rodrigo's goal secured the victory on a glorious night for the football club that saw scenes of jubilation among the City ers inside the Ataturk Stadium and across the world.

The victory over Inter completes a historic Treble, with our European crown added to our Premier League and FA Cup successes.

It is only the tenth occasion a European side has won a Treble, with City ing Celtic (1967), Ajax (1972), PSV Eindhoven (1988), Manchester United (1999), Barcelona (2009 and 2015), Inter Milan (2010) and Bayern Munich (2013 and 2020)

Manager Pep Guardiola has now won 14 major trophies since ing the club in 2016 – a collection comprising five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, one Champions League and two Community Shields – and he becomes the first manager to win two European Trebles (Barcelona 2009 and City 2023).


Captain Ilkay Gundogan, who lifted the trophy in Istanbul, says this victory is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.

"The Champions League is a beautiful competition, and we are all incredibly happy to have won. This team deserves the highest recognition and winning the Champions League elevates us to the very top of the game.

“And to win the Treble is something amazing. It is the ultimate achievement for any club team, and we have done it. It reflects the quality we have in our squad, but it also shows how dedicated we are.

“I want to thank the Manchester City fans for their this season. I can honestly say that we could not have done this without them. They have been amazing, and they deserve this moment.”


City will now begin the 2023/24 season with an opportunity to play in the European Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time, as well having the chance to become the first team in the history of English football to win four league titles in succession.

Good things...

For some reasons, I don’t consider Pep as an exceptional coach like the media portrayed. Any manager to have coached City since the Arab owner took over had always won the EPL. Mancini did, Pellegrini did, unluckily they had just three years each. It took Pep 7yrs to win it with City, it’s possible both previous managers would had done it if they were given same number of luxury years create, dynamite and recreate a stronger team.

The two previous managers built City and left a strong City side with the likes of Toure Yaya, Vincent Kompany, Aguero etc, so it’s safe to say Pep inherited a strong city side and built on it.

Pep is a great coach no doubt but certainly not a tactical genius as the likes of Klopp’s Liverpool, Mourinho’s Chelsea of 2004, and Ferguson’s UTD that created a mountain out of a molehill. For the past 7yrs at City he spent over a billion euros, no manager has spent such in a single spell in a team, so winning the UCL is the barest minimum.

Congratulations to City, and it’s safe to say the EPL is the new farmers league, the reason also is not because of Pep’s brilliance, it’s because football has died not only in England but the entire Europe and we have so many players with no ion but just for the weekly wages. The generation of Ferdinand, Vidic, Terry, Sketel, Puyol, Abidal, Evra, Cole, Henry, Kaka, Lampard, David Villa, Kompany, Chellini etc was the last generation of talent based and ion oriented football.

They're simply the best, you just have to give them that ..

Pep is the only Manager in history to win two trebles (with UCL) and obviously the only one to win trebles with 2 different teams. He also won a third domestic treble.

But the trophies are only a crowning moment. More importantly, Pep has revolutionized football.

Yesterday, Inter's best could still not match City's worst performance of 2023 which testifies to the extremely high level Pep has taken City to.

And it's not about the money. He turned a team with Ake, Akanji, Stones, Grealish, Foden, Gundogan, Dias, Foden who all are just average or decently good players individually into collective monsters. Some other team spent 600million pounds just to achieve 12th position.

All that being said, this City team is still yet to reach the level of control, fearsomeness and utter domination that Barca 2008 - 2012 team had. That team remains the benchmark for the highest level of club football.
