TCN Reconnects Aba Power Electric, Kaduna & Kano DISCOs, Gives 60-Days Grace (9319 Views)
omohayek: 10:52am On May 01, 2023 |
successmatters:Instead of moaning about some imagined discrimination, shouldn't you be asking why the discos have refused to pay their bills? You do realize that the electricity they generate isn't free, and both the Gencos and TCN need to be able to cover their costs to stay in operation. The real travesty here isn't that some discos were cut off for longer than others, but that any of these deadbeat firms were reconnected and given an additional "grace" period in which they can continue to freely rack up debts. It's precisely because of this sort of financially reckless "leniency" that Nigeria's power sector has stagnated for decades now. If TCN were fully privatized and allowed to freely deal with customers as it saw fit, all of Aba, Kaduna and Kano would be allowed to sit in darkness for as long as was necessary for their discos to get their acts together - and start dealing with their own deadbeat customers and those who outright steal power - and paid up in full. No capital-intensive industry can stay afloat with so much bad debt left to float around indefinitely. 8 Likes |

The injustice is you refuse to pay your bill but have expectation that you will continue to receive service. Nigerian. Chances are Aba played I don’t care but Kano kaduna made promises to redeem their debt. That is why God is not answering your senseless prayer and karma is not applicable. A lot of senseless and irresponsible Nigerians cannot survive abroad because of this kind of thinking. Obi2saveNigeria: 5 Likes |

There is a lot of confusion in the Nigerian power sector. The NEPA was privated which later produced eleven DISCOS with 40 percent government stake. The situation now is the masses could not afford to settle thier bills because of low income economic environment. Which in turn the DISCOS resorts to cutting energy supply to the masses to reduce lost in revenue generation. The reality is energy is no longer affordable to the majority because it's very costly to produce by the generation companies. The government avoid taking responsibility for the energy sector and then went for privatisation and the energy can not be afforded by the masses. 2 Likes |

TCN deserves the right to. NBET must be met and every disco should rise up and deliver by minimising the collection losses to the bearest minimum. Most advanced countries have moved on from collection losses 1 Like |

MadamExcellency: It's not hidden ok, there is money in Aba. Aba alone have more First bank branches than some states in Nigeria (commercial banks are fully profit making and not a charitable organization.) Aba is producing most of the clothes Nigerian use, no one in Aba goes outside of Aba to sow clothes but others come to Aba. Lastly, from 2015 till date, Osibanjo visited Aba more on SME's more than any other part of South East. Abia State have always had bad leaders from kalu to ikpeazu but i believe that Otti will do better. 3 Likes 1 Share |

COMPAQ: They promised they will start generating power by July this year. Make we dey observe them. But it should be noted that Geometric was in legal battle with EEDC on the license that covers Aba ringed fenced area. It was last year that it was resolved. And Aba power, a subsidiary of geometric took over Aba area. |

gabbytabby: Stop talking rubbish. You want people to pay for darkness. We are the ones that wired our communities. We bought Transformers, high tension wires, poles with our hard earned money. After all these they can not give people light. Then you now expect people to pay for service not rendered. |

Lol...Aba people please stop acting as if Nigeria or TCN is against you. I stay in Kaduna and for the past 1 week there have been no electricity supply. They just on the light today. Stop playing the victim all the time. We are all in this Nigeria.
